約束の場所 (Yakusoku no basho, lit. "The Promised Place", formerly known as "Sweet Hometown" [1] ) is a formerly unidentified ballad song featuring the Vocaloid 2 voicebank Hatsune Miku. It was reuploaded and retitled by aRth on July 17, 2009 as an attempt to claim the song as his own. The original name and actual artist remained unknown for a long time.
History[]
From 2009 to 2011, aRth would reupload songs created by other artists onto a Japanese video sharing website called NicoNico Douga. He claimed that the reuploads were songs he created, often changing their titles and not giving credit to the actual artists behind the songs he posted. He would target artists that posted their songs on Piapro and personal blogs instead of NicoNico Douga.[2]
On February 10th 2011, a Youtube user named Ryan Seah reposted the song under this name, linking to the reupload from aRth.
On October 10th 2011, aRth released an apology letter admitting to falsely claiming ownership over other people's music. The reuploads posted by aRth were deleted on the same day.[3]
On May 6th 2025, the song was identified as itoto's 約束の場所 by u/Y0RU-V3.
