World Full Of Nothing is an unidentified cover of the Depeche Mode's 1986 song of the same name. It has been mislabeled as demo of the song since the early 2000s.

Search History[]

The song’s earliest mention is from a Google Groups thread from May 28th, 2000. User Surgat replied to a post by user BeHeard Worldwide asking for songs that hadn’t been released yet, listing multiple songs, including this one.[1]

On November 22nd, 2001 the song was mentioned in the website simpledumbpilot.freeservers.com, where this song was mentioned along with some Depeche Mode demos, remixes, concerts, soundchecks, interviews, etc. in the "Depeche Mode Audios" section.[2]

In February 11th, 2006, the song was mentioned in the website pauerteam.de as "World Full Of Nothing (Demo - Rough Mix)", along with a lot of Depeche Mode demos, remixes and other things in the "Depeche Mode - Mixe" section.[3]

On July 1st, 2006, user LouVH on the frenchviolation.com forum mentioned a supposed Martin L. Gore demo named "World Full Of Nothing", which was very likely this song. They were skeptical about the authenticity of this demo since they said the singer of the song didn't sound like Martin.[4]

The song appeared in a bootleg Depeche Mode album titled "Demo Collection Part 1 V2". The year of this bootleg is unknown, but it was most likely made before 2007 as it had a page in the now-deleted website dmremix.be, which was first archived in that year.[5]

There’s also mention of it on dmlive.wiki, saying it was mislabeled as the original song. No other information was provided other than the cover being made by an unknown fan.

Lyrics[]

[Verse 1]
Close, naked, skin on skin
Tears are falling
Tears of joy
Her first boy
His first girl
Makes a change

[Chorus]
In a world full of nothing
Though it's not love, it means something

[Verse 2]
She's lonely
And he says it's for her only
That he lusts
She doesn't trust him
Nothing is true
But he will do

[Chorus]
In a world full of nothing
Though it's not love, it means something

[Bridge]
It's easy to slip away and believe it all
It's easy to slip away and believe it all
It's easy to slip away and believe it all
It's easy to slip away and believe it all

[Outro]
Though it's not love, it means something
Though it's not love, it means something
Though it's not love, it means something
Though it's not love, it means something
Though it's not love, it means something
Though it's not love, it means something
Though it's not love, it means something
