Late 2024-2025
On September 10th, 2024, Discord user RojoCatto (Mike Worst) discovered the band Frank (Just Frank), which he thought sounded similar, after listening to another song by the band, Crisis (demo version) which was featured in the same compilation. He searched up the band name on YouTube a with before:2009 added, which led to him discovering a video from 2008 where the band was playing the song in their basement.[1]
On the same day, Mike checked the band’s last.fm profile and saw a song titled I Tried So Hard, which wasn’t ever officially released. He searched the song up and discovered a 2009 blog from WIRED Records where they mention the band having a song titled Why Don’t You Call Me? as a part of a tracklist for a demo compilation they were supposed to release. But the final release only included the first five tracks.[2]
The following day, Discord user Saber contacted band member Frank Deserto and he confirmed the song was by the band and it was an unreleased demo that was played live for a few shows, fully identifying it as Why Don't You Call Me? by Frank (Just Frank).
Frank said he didn’t have HQ audio of the song, but he said he believed that band member Chris “Anthem” Skarimbas has an alternate version of the song. Though that later turned out to be false.
On October 17th, 2025, surprisingly, high-quality audio was received and uploaded by YouTube user Octavia. They have not revealed the source of this audio, but it is definitely legitimate.
Lyrics
[Intro]
(Welcome)
[Verse 1]
Why don’t you call me?
I’ve been waiting long enough for you
Is it not enough?
How different is your point of view?
Be honest, my dear
Will that make us so far apart?
Pretending you were here
So I could say what’s in my heart
[Chorus]
Is this a game you'd like to play?
To keep your feelings far away
And now I’m thinking what I have been doing
We could have danced around again
We could have belonged again
[Verse 2]
I felt so silly
The sound of ridicule
Because you scared me
Burn the hole that goes right through
This potential charm
That I’ve acquired all these years
You turned it into home
Do-do-do, do, do, do, do-do
I felt so silly
The sound of ridicule
Because you killed me
Put a hole that goes right through
[Chorus]
Is this a game you'd like to play?
To keep your feelings far away
And now I’m thinking what I have been doing
We could have danced around again
We could have belonged again
We could have belonged again
