2016-2022
The song was uploaded to SoundCloud on August 13th, 2016 by user Jhonsting under the name Super 763. The song’s name or artist weren’t credited, and Jhonsting had uploaded many other uncredited songs with similar titles.
On September 19th, 2022, Discord user RojoCatto discovered Jhonsting’s account after user Luis Flores posted the formerly unidentified song Carpark to his channel, asking who made it. He found the account after searching up “Jhonsting” as the name was mentioned in the video.
After some time, around 2022, Luis was contacted and said Jhonsting didn’t remember any names of the songs he’d posted. It was also theorized that Jhonsting didn’t know the songs, as he had a WatZatSong account where he posted songs he was trying to find.
2024
On January 28th, 2024, Discord user Mysterious Voice found a snippet in a Facebook video posted by user SCP that sounded like an alternate version of the song. He quickly found it was What Will Life Make You You? by L U M E N after finding a YouTube upload containing the song and an alternate version on BandCamp.
Around two hours later, user Q found a link to another alternate version of the song from 2016 on Lumen’s BandCamp, but the song wasn’t able to be played anymore and the version wasn’t anywhere else online.
On February 23rd, 2024, Mysterious Voice contacted POPscene, another SC user who posted uncredited indie songs, and they said the song was by Lumen, who also went under the name Pizzagirl, and the version Jhonsting posted was an alternate version that was more slower paced.
On February 26th, 2024, Liam fully identified the song as What Will Life Make Of You? by L U M E N after he was contacted by Q on Instagram, he confirmed the song was by made him when he was around 15, and it was:
“Another version I made after the original because I didn’t like the original so I wanted a more slowed down sadder vibe”
High quality audio of this version and the full alternative version from the preview and Facebook post cannot currently be found due to them being released on Liam’s deleted SoundCloud account and being deleted on BandCamp.
Lyrics
Oh, love me like you used to
Oh, want me like you used to
I got flowers in my hand
Flowers in my hand
And I think it’s for you
I never would have thought
I’d see the night through
With you
Our songs on the tape
But now it’s obsolete
Our song isn’t over
More like incomplete
What will life make of you?
I got flowers in my hand
Flowers in my hand
And I think it’s for you
I never would have thought
I’d see the night through
With you
Oh no, what will life make of you
Oh no, find work for our hands to do
Oh no, what will life make of you
I got flowers in my hand
Flowers in my hand
And I think it’s for you
I never would have thought
I’d see the night through
With you
I got flowers in my hand
Flowers in my hand
And I think it’s for you
I never would have thought
I’d see the night through
With you
I got flowers in my hand
Flowers in my hand
And I think it’s for you
I never would have thought
I’d see the night through
With you
