The song was posted to WatZatSong on April 14th, 2020, by user mumfti, giving it the placeholder name "We Love Da Music". They didn’t provide any information about where the song came from, nor a longer snippet, but they said it was recorded in 1993.
On August 22nd, 2020, mumfti posted to full song to Vocaroo[1]. They still didn’t provide any info, but it was likely recorded off of a German radio station, due to the other songs they posted. However, the artist is most likely Jamaican, due to the accent and lyrics.
2021-2023
On January 16th, 2021, WZS user superbony commented on the post, bringing up the possibility of the song being Mr. Loverman by Shabba Ranks, but it was a different song, and Shabba's voice didn't sound similar.[2]
Over time, the song was reuploaded to YouTube by multiple users, such as BloostMedia, MistaEgg, Q, Aero, Ofrix, S2h, AlianTheObscure, SpikeytheCactus, LostwaveFinder, 𝑀𝑟. 𝐶ℎ𝑖𝑝𝑠, Rocketballboi, Murphy, and multiple others, amassing over 30k views.
On August 1st, 2023, user illcent commented on MistaEgg's reupload, saying:
"may not really be a lead, but i noticed that the main drum beat sounds like it sampled the drum break from "impeach the president" by the honey drippers (with a few alterations), i also thought that the chorus ("we love the music, we love the music") kinda sounded like krs-one / boogie down productions, which i think is also called "toasting" (which is popular in jamaican dancehall) so you may wanna look into that, hope this helps 👍"[3]
Six days later, MistaEgg discovered that the song actually sampled drums from Mr. Loverman, which was released in July of 1992, after his reupload got a copyright disclaimer. This means the song can't be from before then.[4]
2024-2025
On July 19th, 2024, Reddit user u/Diligent-Patient-915 discovered that the song's chorus interpolates the chorus from "Raggamuffin Hip-Hop" by duo Asher D and Daddy Freddy, which released in 1988, after they Shazamed it.[5]
On April 10th, 2025, the OP came back and responded to a reply by user Sweetiecap asking them to list the tape’s tracklist, they thought Sweetiecap was saying they got the song from an album, and confirmed it was recorded off of a radio station[6].
On November 1st, 2025, a channel for the song was created in the FMM Discord server after winning a channel poll, along with Summer On The Radio, Ground Xero, No More Feelings, Key To My Heart, Popcorn Tape, Road To Nowhere, Keep Running So Everything Makes Sense, Getting High and I'm Going On.
On the same day, user simonleplot discovered that the song played before this was People Everyday by Arrested Development[7]. Four days later, Discord user marktrail identified the song playing directly after as Happy Days (12" Remix) by Silk[8]. The songs were released in July and October of 1992 respectively.
On the same day, the OP responded to a comment by user aphex7c asking what station the song was recorded off of, and they said it might've been the Clubnight show on hr3[9], which usually played similar music.
A day later, when user EvanC015/VCC asked for the tracklist, the OP gave it[10]. All the songs were released between 1991 and 1992 and were by American artists, indicating the song is likely an American release[11]. It was likely released on vinyl due to audible crackling.
