Search History

The song was posted to Spirit of Radio on April 7th, 2008 by user Charles B, the same OP as Shades Of Liberty and Monster Of Love. He said this song was off of Canadian radio station CFNY in 1991, but didn’t provide information about the other two.

On March 1st, 2021, the OP posted the full version onto Vocaroo after user nonoseacrest contacted him in the Spirit of Radio thread the day before.

On July 30th, 2022, Charles reposted the song to YouTube along with Monster Of Love. He specified that the song was recorded in early 1991.

On February 28th, 2024, user BlackhawksNBullsNCubsNBears commented on an upload of the song saying he had discovered a Canadian rock band called Wavestation. He said that their song Wavestation could’ve been the same song, as it’s said in the lyrics.

Many people in the Fond my Mind Discord server doubted the lead due to the band’s only album being released three years after Charles recorded the song, another band Buzz Druzeta being in called FAQ not sounding similar, and BlackhawksNBullsNCubsNBears making false claims about Bitter Tears and Traveling Minstrel.

On March 4th, 2024, BlackhawksNBullsNCubsNBears posted the full album to YouTube. The song was identified as Wavestation by Wavestation, the fourth track in the album. The version in the album was different than the original snippet, meaning it was a demo.

On October 3rd, 2024, band member Buzz Druzeta sent Discord user PersonOfDistraction a package with the CD of the original demo album that included the 1991 version of the song. PersonOfDistraction posted the full album to YouTube two days later.

Lyrics

[Intro]
(Listen, listen, listen!)

[Verse 1]
Autumn is here
Cry the leaves with their dying
Shed mythical tears for forever skies
Wavestation calls out to all who will listen
The truth that we cannot deny
Shouldering sunburst casts shadows of life
Meaning lost in my mind
Feel for a soul in the wink of an eye
Then it's gone, gone, gone

[Chorus]
Ride this wave forever!

[Verse 2]
Autumn is here
Call the seas with their swaying
'Till transient waves bend attentivе minds
Harmony sounds out to all who will listen
A truth that is one of a kind
Sophistry endlеss with unwilling jest
Taking toll in the arts
Lost in the touch of a dream gone by
Is the end

[Chorus]
Ride this wave forever!

[Bridge]
I have seen the winds of change
Oh, they've weathered all the pain
'Cause you know you've only got yourself to blame

[Instrumental]

[Verse 3]
Autumn is gone
Barks the frost with its winter
As blanketing snowfalls masquerade fields
Illusion flickers with twilight's glowing
And night must to morning yield
Those who are lucky cling tighter to love
Smiling and lost in sleep
Looking at the doubt lying deep in your head
It is dead, dead, dead

[Chorus]
Ride this wave forever!
