Lyrics[]

[Verse 1]
I have to say that this looks like a war
The vessels of veterans newly formed cannonballs
To escape the sun's reign over day
And after the explosion
Your hearing is muffled
Sunlight shrapnel paints a picture at the cost of a breath

[Pre-Chorus]
As the night comes of age the heat of the flame hits in waves
As if it ever got cold in this place

[Verse 2]
I have to say that this looks like a war
The vessels of veterans newly formed cannonballs
To escape the sun's reign over day
And after the explosion
Your hearing is muffled
Sunlight shrapnel paints a picture at the cost of a breath

[Chorus]
We’ll go sleepless through the night and watch our lives play out like foreign film
We won’t understand it but its beauty is comparable to that of few things we have known
To that of few things we have...
To that of few things we have known
To that of few things we have...
To that of few things we have

[Bridge]
This is not common procedure
And the aftermath will be felt the week ahead
But I’ll never forget those flames
I'll never forget those

Old theories[]

It was suggested that the song could've been made by Linkin Park, Simple Plan or Good Charlotte. But none of their vocalists voices matched up. It was also suggested that it was made by Foo Fighters or Blink-182, but this was also disproven. Other mainstream bands were suggested, including Fenix TX, Mest, MxPx, New Found Glory, Midtown and Saves the Day, which were all disproven. Another theory was suggested that song may have came from an small New Jersey or New York band that was either play in WSOU in NJ or WLIR in Long Island, or it could've been a Texas based pop-punk band.

mbc106 was a former member of their college's radio station from 2001 to 2005 and claimed to have heard the song once back then. It may have come from a promo CD from a local small band around the New York and New Jersey area, most of it coming from an College Music Journal, but this was disproven and the company behind the CMJ have went out of business a long time ago.

In Whang's video, he went through the episode's credits in the IMDB Page to find a composer named Greg Edmenson who has made multiple songs for King of the Hill, movies, video games and other shows. Upon listening to one of his compositions, it was clear it was not made by him. Another person Whang found was Joe Zimmerman, who was a music librarian for the show, but wasn't the artist behind the two songs. Whang did specify that he may have gotten the song to be licensend for the episode.
