The Nearness Of You is an unidentified cover of Glenn Miller's 1940 song of the same name.
Search History[]
The song was first mentioned on February 27th, 2022, when user Dacine posted the unidentified song Easy Street. It came from an acetate record found at an estate sale. The description said the record included several other songs, including this one.
On April 13th, 2022, Dacine posted another song from the record by the same artist, Old Black Magic, to YouTube. But they still didn’t post this song. They mentioned the record was “found caked in decades of dust”.
On June 24th, 2024, Dacine posted the song to YouTube along with Bye Bye Blackbird, I’m In The Mood For Love, and Easy Living. All the songs are most likely from the 1940s, but might be from the 1950s.
Lyrics[]
It's not the pale moon that excites me
That thrills and delights me
Oh no, it's just the nearness of you...
It isn't your sweet conversation
That brings this sensation
Oh no, it's just the nearness of you
When you're in my arms
And I feel you so close to me
All my wildest dreams come true
I need no soft lights to enchant me
If you'll only grant me the right
To hold you ever so tight
And to feel in the night
The nearness of you!
