The Love of Life is an unidentified psychedelic folk song that is from a radio station in Bremen, Deutschland.
Search History[]
The song was first posted to the r/NameThatSong Subreddit on June 30th, 2020, by user Shabarin.[1] They said that their father-in-law recorded it off of a radio station in Bremen, Germany, in 1967. They posted Vocaroo link to the song.[2]
The OP said they theorized that the singer is "from UK, who was playing in Germany at the time (like the beatles in Hamburg) but didn't record it 'officialy' (with a record label) and thus is nowhere to be found."
The OP reposted the song twice, onto the r/TipOfMyTongue and r/PsychFolk subreddits. With people in the replies pointing out how the singer sounded Irish.
In 2022, the OP reposted the song a final time onto r/Accents, asking if anyone else thought the singer was British. As of now, the OP is no longer active.
In 2023, user weliveandlearn replied to the third post, noting that when the singer sings "i’ll" it sounds like he’s saying "oil", meaning that the singer is most likely Irish.
Lyrics[]
[Verse 1]
Like the poet without a thought for today
Or like the bird that could not fly away
Yesterday, the whole world could have been mine
But today, I feel it's no good even trying
[Verse 2]
All hope is gone, for tomorrow I'll never see
And the dreams I planned, I guess will never be
I know it's just been too long a time
And the number has been called and it was mine
[Verse 3]
All my life I've been waiting for today
And now there's just a few things left to say
Too late, I fear no one can set me free
Till now, the love of life had gone from me
