Temporary Love (formerly known as Let’s Let It Go) is a formerly unidentified funk/contemporary R&B song by the late Floridian singer Frank Cornelius, featuring Valerie Tyson for backing vocals. Released in 1989 on the album Tender Lover.

Search History[]

The song originated from a Dailymotion mix made in 2009 by user FunkyTams, a member of the Lyon Funk community. None of the songs in the mix were credited.

In 2024, Funkytams was contacted and didn’t remember the name of the song but started searching for it. The song was theorized to be from the 1980s or as recent as when the mix was made.

On October 25th, 2024, the song was identified as "Temporary Love" by Frank Cornelius by user Randolurker. They had solved the song after finding an upload of it on YouTube.

Lyrics[]

[Verse 1: Valerie Tyson]
I only see you every once in a while
Just to see you, ooh, it makes me smile
But when you leave me, you know I'll miss you so much
You keep me longing for your sweet and tender touch

[Pre-Chorus: Frank Cornelius]
Ooh, honey, I know just how you must feel
I feel the same way you do, and I know that it is real
I'm tired and I've had enough, and you are too, I know, babe
There's only thing left to do, let's let it go

[Chorus: Frank Cornelius, Backing Vocals, Valerie Tyson]
Because I'm tired of being caught up in (Temporary love)
Oh, won't you tell me who needs it, a temporary love
I'm so tired of being caught up in this temporary love
Won't you tell me, who needs it? A temporary love

[Post-Chorus: Backing Vocals]
(Temporary love)
(Temporary love)
(Temporary love)
(Temporary love)

[Verse 2: Valerie Tyson]
But I realize, what you're saying is true
But breaking up is so hard to do
When I see you, boy, something runs to me
That same old feeling that took control of me

[Pre-Chorus: Frank Cornelius]
I know you need me, and I need you too, darling
There is only one thing left for us to do
We've got to try to work this out, the right way
So we can be together each and every day

[Chorus: Frank Cornelius, Backing Vocals, Valerie Tyson, Frank Cornelius & Valerie Tyson]
Because I'm tired of being caught up in (Temporary love)
Oh, won't you tell me who needs it, a temporary love
I'm so tired of being caught up in this temporary love
Won't you tell me, who needs it? A temporary love

[Post-Chorus: Backing Vocals]
(Temporary love)
(Temporary love)
(Temporary love)
(Temporary love)

[Bridge: Frank Cornelius]
This temporary love is driving us crazy
Can't you see that it's making us lazy?
We never thought it would be like this
But now we're breaking up, because we both insist
Now, we both know that we need each other
But we're standing around, just dissing one another
See, love and affection is all we need
We'll have to take some time, we'll succeed
Honey, you're my friend, ooh, and my best lover
I really don't really need to have no other
I'll try it if you try it
What are we gonna lose? Uh-uh, don't deny it!
Don't want you to be a love I had
The thought of it only makes me sad
I wanna love you, hug you, kiss you, squeeze you
Do anything, girl, to please you

[Pre-Chorus: Frank Cornelius, Valerie Tyson]
I know you need me (Oh yeah), and I need you too, darling
There is only one thing left for us to do (Ooh-hoo)
We've got to try to work this out, the right way
So we can be together each and every day

[Chorus: Frank Cornelius, Backing Vocals, Valerie Tyson]
Because I'm tired of being caught up in (Temporary love)
Oh, won't you tell me who needs it, a temporary love
I'm so tired of being caught up in this temporary love
(Ooh, yes, I'm done) Won't you tell me, who needs it? A temporary love

[Outro: Backing Vocals, Valerie Tyson, Frank Cornelius]
(Temporary love)
(Temporary love)
Temporary love (Temporary love)
Who needs it, yeah (Temporary love)
You see, I'll do almost anything you want me to (Oh yeah)
Gotta work it out, [?] (Gotta work it out, yeah)
Because I'm tired of being caught up in, oh (I'm tired of it, every day)
Oh, won't you tell me who needs it? (Temporary love)
Ah, you say you love me, I'm just about this temporary love (Who needs it? A temporary love)
Is the love I'm in crazy, yes it is, it was (Oh, baby)
Oh, but I'll never wanna see (I don't wanna see, yes)
I don't never want you back
I don't never want you back
