"Телефон" (Telefon, English: Telephone) is an identified Russian song from the Amigos band and from a pop-compilation "Очень горячая двадцатка 5" (English: Very Hot Twenty 5). In the compilation, it was labeled as "Lemon - Не звони".

Search History[]

1999[]

The song is included in a tape compilation 5 / Very Hot Twenty 5, listed under the name "Lemon - Не звони".[1]

2018[]

On February 10th, 2018, the song would be mentioned in a Russian discussion board. A low-quality recording would be shared by forum user Участник.[2] Lyrics to the song would also be included. Due to the incomplete archive, any responses to the post were inaccessible. It would later be recalled that forum users disproved Lemon's involvement in the song. The thread also mentioned a second collection containing the song, and another lead, composer Alexander Fedorkov, was discarded.[3]

2022[]

On March 12, 2022, the song would be posted to WatZatSong as a 30-second snippet containing the chorus with the caption "unknown 1999. full 320kbps: vocaroo.com/1736FVUQjmn2".[3] According to ZloyBritvich, the original poster, the track was downloaded in high-quality from a defunct Russian forum.[4]

2023[]

A cassette compilation containing the song would be discovered on March 25th, 2023.[3]

2024[]

It was discovered that full digitized VHS compilation with higher refresh rate has been found on RuTracker.org. Side B of the compilation was uploaded to YouTube by user Dzen47 on July 26th, 2024.[5]

On September 29th, the song was marked identified on the russian music search website acc59.ucoz.net. The admin and owner of the website, Sergey Piterskiy announced that the performer of the song is a band called "АМИГОС" [6] ("Amigos").

On December 14th, Anon0122 contacted Sergey Pitersky about the "АМИГОС" band. And on Decеmber 15, 2024, Sergey answered, that this song had been in his archives since 2007. This song was sent by his friend Arthur from Moscow for identification and disappeared. The file of the song, which has been found by Sergey in his own archives is also different due to the quality from OP and the RuTracker version. It is impossible to find any information about the АМИГОС band on the Internet except for the site of Sergei Pitersky himself. Since then, the identity of the band and the answer itself is still in question and has to be proven.

2025[]

On January 29th, Igor Cherkasov found an entry in the registry of Belarussian NCIP (National Centre of Intellectual Property) for a song "Телефон" performed by "Амигос". One of the participants was Maxim Korovaev (Dj Max).

After that, user Andrey contacted Maxim and he confirmed that the band sang this song.

Theories/Leads[]

The first leads originated from the Russian forum and were disproving in the same thread. These included "Lemon" and "Федорков".[3] On the WatZatSong post, the band "140 ударов в минуту" would be contacted, but be proven false. One user would find the phone number of the company "New Studio", who published the compilation, but it's unknown if they ever contacted them. There was also an assumption about the band "Хамелеон", but Maxim Ganin himself (a member of the group) refuted this theory. Regarding the group "АМИ́ГОС" ("Amigos"), there was an assumption that it was allegedly Nikolai Krupatin's group, since their work was similar. A TG user under the nickname "Денка Лампов" (Denis Kobylkin) contacted Nikolai Krupatin in TG, but Nikolai Krupatin himself denied it.

Lyrics[]

[Intro]
Call me baby, call me now!
Call me baby, right now!
Call me baby, call me now!
Call me baby, right now!

[Verse 1]

[Chorus]

[Post-chorus]
Call me baby, call me now!
Call me baby, right now!
Call me baby, call me now!
Call me baby, right now!
Call me baby, call me now!
Call me baby, right now!
Call me baby, call me now!

[Verse 2]

[Chorus]
Call me baby, call me now!
Call me baby, right now!

[Verse 3]

[Chorus]

[Intro]
Call me baby, call me now!
Call me baby, right now!
Call me baby, call me now!
Call me baby, right now!

[Verse 1]
The golden leaves lay outside the window
The fine days make my heart happy
But for me it is a hundred times more joyful
That you promised to call me
You will call, I will whisper to you
How I get drunk from your dear eyes
And from the hair sliding down my shoulder
Memories will envelop us

[Chorus]
But the damned telephone does not ring
Circling around it like falling leaves
Without you, I am like in Defoe's story
I would give everything for your beautiful look!
But the damned telephone does not ring
Circling around it like falling leaves
Without you, I am like in Defoe's story
I would give everything for your beautiful look!

[Post-chorus]
Call me baby, call me now!
Call me baby, right now!
Call me baby, call me now!
Call me baby, right now!
Call me baby, call me now!
Call me baby, right now!
Call me baby, call me now!

[Verse 2]
The phone rang in my ears
As if spring had come in the middle of a snowstorm
My dear, I'm running to the phone as fast as I can
And finally I woke up from my sleep

[Chorus]
But the damned phone doesn't ring
Circling around it like falling leaves
Without you, I'm like in Defoe's story
I'd give everything for your beautiful look!
Call me baby, call me now!
Call me baby, right now!

[Verse 3]
The golden leaf fall lay outside the window
The fine days make my heart happy
But it's a hundred times more fun for me
That you promised to call me
You'll call, I'll whisper to you
How I get drunk from your dear eyes
And from the hair sliding down your shoulder
Memories will envelop us

[Chorus]
But the damned phone doesn't ring
Circling around it like falling leaves
Without you, I'm like in Defoe's story
I'd give everything for your beautiful look!
But the damned phone doesn't ring
Circling around it like falling leaves
Without you, I'm like in Defoe's story
I'd give everything for your beautiful look!

Amigos (Maxim Korovaev & Ivan Bochkov)[]

The Amigos group was a club dance group. I was doing Camel's promotional tour of Russia with concerts. The Amigos danced at performances with other go-go dancers. DJ Max played his vinyl on these shows. Amigos B asked me to produce them and make them a vocal group. That's how it all started.

We only recorded two songs. I financed this case. And by verbal agreement, I gave the guys three months before signing the contract. That is, until January 1, 1999. Maybe they forgot or didn't want to, but I stopped doing them since new year 1999. I focused on Katya's group of Four. I've stopped editing the clip.

There was a conflict within the group. Andrey was the leader of the group. But, he couldn't sing at all. Sasha sang as well as he could. Andrey only read the recitative. Andrey's ambitions and leadership apparently slowed down the project. It's a pity, but alas!

The video was shot by Sergey Vasilevsky from Shchelkovo. But, it never came to the installation.

We wrote the song at Kalyanov's studio. It was played on Fomenko's Russian radio. I've got this track all over the radio.
