The song was posted to WatZatSong by user NY80sTapes/Kenny Cathead on November 19th, 2023, giving it the placeholder name “Uptempo Instrumental EDM” and providing a longer snippet on Vocaroo. It was recorded in New York or New Jersey in 1984.
On November 24th, 2023, on the FMM Discord thread for the songs he posted, Kenny said that he wasn’t the person who recorded the tapes, but instead a friend who was trying to make a sound collage, but he recorded a few things.
Later that day, when user Tyx asked Kenny why multiple songs weren’t featured in the original video Kenny posted on June 10th, he said there was so many clips that the friend recorded, and it was hard to keep track of them.
On July 14th, 2024, the song was identified by user Max Many Mix as Plaisir Synthetique (Synthetic Pleasure) by Don Slepian. The following day, it was confirmed that the song was made by him and a live performance of it was discovered alongside it.
