2021-2023
The song was first posted onto WatZatSong on April 9th, 2021 by user eva99. The song came from from a burnt old CD that she made in 2007, the song’s artist or title weren’t labeled. She posted a longer snippet to Vocaroo a day later due to WatZatSong's 30 second limit.
On June 8th, 2021, it was reuploaded by YouTube user Swiðr. And on July 2nd, 2023, popular lostwave uploader, Ziro would also reupload the song onto her channel, to give the song more attention and hopefully get it identified more sooner.
January-June 2024
On January 10th, 2024, Discord user Lexal8054 had found a song Laila Samuels - Such A Pity through an ASCAP search, along with a page on LastFM. He thought that Laila’s voice sounded similar, but the song wasn’t available online to confirm it.
On March 22nd, 2024, user leerose contacted Laila. She confirmed to have been the artist behind the song, but she didn't have the full version of the song, which means she didn’t have much proof. On Facebook Laila made a post asking if anyone had the full song.
Around June 2024, Laila was sent the full version of the song by a family friend who had it recorded on a CD. She had claimed that she might've been able to upload it around summer, but she then in September that she would upload it in a few months.
September 2024-2025
On September 25th, 2024, another user named "fandroidfan2002" would confirm the recording year of the song being in around 1999.
On November 17th, 2024, Laila would plan on releasing a demo album containing the full version of "Such A Pity" on January 3rd, 2025.
On January 2nd, 2025, the song was finally identified after Laila released her album “The Lost Demos” with Such A Pity as the 5th track.
