Not to be confused with Stranger or Stranger in the Corner.

Strangers (previously known as "Such A Long Time Ago") is a formerly unidentified post-punk song. It was created by the British band Sinking Ships. The song was also performed live.

Search history[]

The song originated from the Societas X Tape, a compilation made by the band Boards Of Canada that broadcasted on NTS radio on June 23rd, 2019. The tape also contains multiple other unknown songs, such as Soon The Queen Will Come Our Way and Piano Drums Synth Choir.

Some people theorised that the song was made by the same band behind Like The Wind, due to the similarity in the singer’s voices.

On August 7th, 2019, the song was identified by user Cantfindthistune as Strangers by Shinking Ships. Due to the mentioned theory, some asked whether Sinking Ships had also made Like the Wind, but they had confirmed that the song wasn’t by them.

Lyrics[]

[Verse 1]
Is there someone who can understand the things that he says?
And there was something he once said to me a long time ago
Something I never quite understood
Something that seemed so strange

[Chorus]
It seems a long time ago
Such a long time ago
And will things ever change?
No, things don't ever change

[Verse 2]
Distances mean nothing to him now
He can take his time
The faces all pass him by and he smiles
He pauses for a while
I stayed up late for you last night
I waited all through the night

[Chorus]
It seems a long time ago
Such a long time ago

[Instrumental]

[Verse 2]
Distances mean nothing to him now
He can take his time
The faces all pass him by and he smiles
He pauses for a while
I stayed up late for you last night
I waited all through the night

[Chorus]
It seems a long time ago
Such a long time ago

[Outro]
It seems a long time ago
Such a long time ago
