Steppin' On (Remix) - (formerly known as Love Me Long) is a formally unidentified 1990s house/funk song by Australian artist Sexing The Cherry. [1]

Search History[]

The original clip was uploaded[2] by YouTuber "☆ Electric Winter ☆" (now known as "Spin ☆") in December of 2023. They mention that they found it on a cassette from the 1990s, and that the possible release date for the song could be from the late 1980s to mid 1990s. There was no other information provided by the OP in the upload.

On the same day of the upload, the OP posted[3] a clip to WatZatSong with the description "Found on a cassette from the 90s. Possible title: Love Me Long? Need help identifying."

On December 12th, 2023, OP created a post[4] on the Reddit group /r/Lostwave with further details on how they came across the song. They mentioned that:

  • It was recorded off an Australian radio station[5] during the late 80s to the mid-90's
  • It was recorded by their parents as their father recorded a lot of mixes (150+) from the radio during that time period
  • The song was likely from before 1994 as every song of the album was from the year 1994 or before
  • This was the only song that was unknown.

In a comment on the same reddit post, the OP posted a full track list from the cassette:

Lyrics[]

Yes!

This goes music

(Chorus)
We’re going to be fine
Keep on Steppin On
We’re going to be fine
Keep on being strong

Never be free of your sweet loving memories
All the moments of pleasure you’ve given to me

I want to move you
Groove you
I want to touch you
All over baby
Can’t fight the fever
I’ll tell you how you make me feel

(Whoa)

We’re going to be fine
Keep on Steppin On
We’re going to be fine
Keep on being strong

We’re going to be fine
Keep on Steppin on
We’re going to be fine
Keep on being strong

(Yeah yeah yeah)

Look the sky all around is grey
Got to be stronger every day
It’s(?) the best thing
Fly me away
Got to keep moving
Don’t stop the music
Got to be real
And tell you how you make me feel

Gotta keep going
Gotta keep going
Gotta keep going

We’re going to be fine
Keep on Steppin On
We’re going to be fine
Keep on being strong

We’re going to be fine
Keep On Steppin On
We’re going to be fine
Keep on being strong

We’re going to be fine
Keep on Steppin On
Keep on being strong
Keep on being strong

Gotta keep going … yeah
Gotta keep going … yeah
Gotta keep going … yeah
Keep on, keep on
Steppin On

We’re going to be fine
Keep on Steppin On
We’re going to be fine
Keep on being strong

(Hey yay, hey yay yay yay)

We’re going to be fine
Keep on Steppin On
We’re going to be fine
Keep on being strong

Artist: Sexing The Cherry[]

Sexing The Cherry was a Brisbane, Australia based duo founded in 1992 of the DJ/producer/musician Edwin Morrow and vocalist/musician Cherryn Lomas. Luke Paramor was an early collaborator and co-wrote the original version of the song, “Steppin’ On”.[8]

Their first song, Steppin' On, was originally included in the Australian Dance/Electronic compilation High (A Dance Compilation) [9] released in 1992. The compilation also included another song of theirs with the title This Is A Dream.

A remixed version of Steppin' On was released as a single[10] in 1993. Steppin' On (Remix) reached #42 on the Australian ARIA Singles Chart in May 1994.[11] It was the bands only single to chart worldwide.

The Band released the single Glamourous in 1995 and then officially disbanded.
