Spam Video Soundtrack is a name given to a series of songs played in spam videos uploaded to YouTube between 2013-2014. There are 7 songs in the series. Two of them (#4 and #7) are identified, while the rest are unidentified.

History[]

During 2013-2014, several YouTube bot accounts were created which would upload hundreds-thousands of videos, all in the same day. The videos in these channels were most often slideshow videos showing images of a topic described in the video's title, accompanied by one of seven background songs (often in extremely low quality).[1] [2] [3] The descriptions of the videos would usually either be other related searches separated by newline, be completely empty, or have generic phrases like "More videos on this channel.". These videos have been given the name "spam videos" by those who know about them. Ever since these videos began appearing in 2013, there has been a small community of people researching these videos trying to figure out where they came from, why they exist and where the songs are sourced from. A large amount of those channels posting spam videos were nuked by YouTube, but a few managed to survive to this day. In 2014, w6h uploaded all 7 songs to his YouTube channel under the name "Spam Video Soundtrack (1-7)", officially starting the search for these songs. [4]

During the search, two songs have been found so far. The 4th song has been identified as Echo Parcours (Album Mix) by Trio Elétrico due to YouTube's copyright system detecting it on some spam videos. The 7th song was also found to be Untitled #1 by Socci and Pency by a user named pelz. It used to be a popular acoustic guitar track for amateur guitarists to cover in early YouTube. The rest are left unidentified.

All seven songs were also found in higher quality thanks to certain spam channels using higher quality versions of the songs (as well as the current findings). [5]

Some identified songs have been found that seem to also use the samples and loops used by songs #2 and #6. These songs include im gone by night lovell, which has the acoustic guitars heard in song #2, and Loving The Moment and Moments Spend With You from the Jewelbeat archives which both were released before 2013, but seem to use the same guitar riff samples as song #6. They have also been heard in a live performance of a song called Rescued Me by Harvey Champagne, also from 2013[6]. Even more songs with those samples have been found such as this one, Reminisce by Donald Wilborn, as well as Good Mood by Valeriy Kuchin from 2009 [7]. These songs of course, are not the origin of either song, and the samples themselves have also not been identified. It is debated whether or not song #2 is simply the sample(s) itself, as the entire thing is a single track of acoustic guitar platying with an odd rhythm. HellFire2345, another user who helped researching the songs, and the creator of the "Super 3-D Crunk Bros." game, put song #3 (a high quality version of it that they found likely in a spam video channel that happened to use HQ music) in one of its levels, and theorized that the samples could come from sample packs made for the GarageBand software.

Chapter 2[]

Around 2023, a new spam channel was found from as late as October 2016, which uses completely different music. This set of songs has been dubbed "Spam Video Soundtrack: Chapter 2", and features 9 songs. As of May 2025, all of the 9 songs have been identified. They are listed below.

Song 01: Parisian by Kevin Macleod

Song 02: Pacifico by James Beaudreau

Song 03: Running Waters by Audionautix

Song 04: Prelude No. 13 by Chris Zabriskie

Song 05: Ecstasy X by Audionautix

Song 06: Serenity by Audionautix

Song 07: Bill Cheathum by Shake That Little Foot

Song 08: Neogrotesque by Tortue Super Sonic

Song 09: Dial My Number by Benedek

Current leads[]

While neither Loving The Moment or Moments Spend With You are the actual origin of the 6th song, they do seem to use the same guitar samples (albeit sped up) and were released before 2013. It is very possible that these two songs are related to song #6 in some way. It's possible there is a third Jewelbeat song using the guitar samples that was in fact Spam Video Soundtrack 6, but this is unconfirmed. It's also possible that the guitar loops come from a sample pack made for the program Sony Acid, as Reminisce by Donald Wilborn was made in Sony Acid and the other songs sampling these loops appear to be made in the program as well but it's currently unconfirmed. The loops also appear to be from before 2003 as the song 7 Layer Cake by Skip Moore (2002) also uses the loop

Debunked leads[]

The first song (Spam Video Soundtrack 1) is not Under The Shoulder by Jason Greene as you will find in some uploads of the song. That name was found to be a copyright troll. It uses the low-quality version of the song, even though it is known that a high-quality version exists.
