Some Die For Money, formerly known as For My Murder or A Dark Place is a formerly unidentified New Wave song by British band 3D (A Fish in Sea), from their 1982 John Peel radio session.

“Some Die For Money” was recorded by Liverpudlian New Wave group 3D (A Fish in Sea) for their April 1982 session for well-known British radio DJ John Peel. The song was written by the band’s vocalist and percussionist at the time Richie, and was partially inspired by Jack the Ripper.
The song was played second in the original broadcast of the session, although repeats in July and December of the same year changed the song to third and first (of the 3D songs played) respectively. Some elements of the song were reincorporated into their 1985 song “The Club”, which acted as a b-side to their third and final single “Dance to Believe”.
On August 3rd, 2020, user terryh uploaded a snippet of the song to WatZatSong under the name “Rock 80s”. According to the OP, it was recorded off of the now-defunct Radio Trent in Nottingham using a TDK SA Super Avliyn cassette.
Almost immediately, the post garnered a decent amount of attention, with the original post having over 900 listens. On August 12th, terryh provided a longer sample of the song, although the beginning was missing.
This gained the attention of users rybalan and Lost and Obscure, with the latter uploading the longer snippet of the song under the title “Unknown 80s New Wave Song - For My Murder” the following day. The video now has over 35K views.
On September 3rd, 2021, the song was identified by YouTube user Allister Girvin as Some Die For Money by 3D (A Fish In Sea). The song was found after Allister discovered LostwaveFinder’s reupload and discovered a copy of the song in his collection of radio recordings.
