Sky Channel is the name given to an unidentified chiptune song composed on a Commodore 64 computer.

Search History[]

The song was posted to YouTube on June 27th, 2016 by user Unepic SID Channel. It was composed on a Commodore 64 computer, with the file being dated to 1984, but they didn’t provide any information about where they got it from.

On October 30th, 2016, the song was posted to YouTube again by user _NilsHaxard. It was part of a Commodore 64 soundbox with multiple other songs. It was the 22nd song on the soundbox, playing 1:12:16 into the video.

Over time, the song was reuploaded to YouTube by several users, such as Zumi, Q, Ofrix, 𝑀𝑟. 𝐶ℎ𝑖𝑝𝑠, and multiple others, amassing over 15k views.

On May 10th, 2024, Q reuploaded the song to her YouTube channel to get it more attention. Shortly after, it was theorized by user Synt to be a cover of "Great is the Lord" by Michael W. Smith, albeit slowed down.

On March 15th, 2025 Discord user Murphy found a mention of "GREATISTHELOARD" in the hex code of the D64 image[1], confirming that the song was a cover.

On the same day, Murphy also found that the "CSS" credited was not the Cleveland software society but rather someone named Arjan[2]. Due to no info about Arjan being available, the song is only considered nearly solved.
