Rig-A-Jig-Jig (also known as The Last Of Childhood Memories) is a song played by two unknown performers, which is released in 1962. It is a cover of the traditional nursery rhyme of the same name. (Which also shares a tune with Buffalo Gals.) The song was released by Columbia Records as part of a record album for children, "MUSIC FOR LIVING SERIES; THROUGH THE DAY", as being the second track of Side 2.

All the other songs on the album are also not identified.

The song was originally discovered in the album Everywhere In The Beginning Of Nowhere (abbreviated as EITBON), a The Caretaker inspired album.

History[]

On March 5th 2020, Internet Archive user jakej uploaded the song to the Internet Archive. They also stated that it was digitalized at 78 revolutions per minute. However, they never mentioned the performers of the song. When the song's audio was uploaded, a photo of the record was attached together, it contained no information that could identify the performers though.

Around 2022, Mr. Ravenswood potentially identified the authors or who were in charge of distributing these song. Here's the quote from his statement:

"Recently I have found the authors or those who were in charge of distributing these songs "Silver Burdett Company" were in charge of the creation of these songs even so the vocalists or musicians remain unknown but it is investigated with the help of a music book (a book that accompanied these songs) found by "Spirit" This book can help us find musicians and vocalists."[1]

Lyrics[]

[Verse: Male Singer]
As I was walking down the street,
Down the street, down the street
And a pretty girl I chanced to meet
Hi-ho, hi-ho, hi-ho!!

Rig-a-jig-jig and away we go,
Away we go, away we go
Rig-a-jig-jig and away we go,
Hi-ho, hi-ho, hi-ho!!

[Verse: Female Singer]
As I was walking down the street,
Down the street, down the street
And a nice young man I chanced to meet
Hi-ho, hi-ho, hi-ho!!

Rig-a-jig-jig and away we go,
Away we go, away we go
Rig-a-jig-jig and away we go,
Hi-ho, hi-ho hi-ho!!

[Instrumental Outro]
