Not to be confused with Let You Down, as the original placeholder name of this is very similar.

Promises To A Prodigy (formerly known as "Let You Know") is a formerly unidentified indie rock song recorded by Manchester-based band The New Antics around 2007.

Search History[]

The song was posted to YouTube on January 26th, 2024, by user flashback87 abner chaca. It was claimed to have been recorded off of Radio Doble Nueve on the show "El Laboratorio de Relax", ran by DJ Relax in 2008.

On May 31st, 2025, user scoutshadys rediscovered and posted the song to WatZatSong, asking who made it. They said it was recorded off of KoolRockRadio, and gave it the placeholder name "Let You Know"

Over time, the song was re-uploaded to YouTube by several users, such as S2h, Rocketballboi, Q, and multiple others, amassing over 1k views. It had been theorized to be on ReverbNation as many other DJ Relax songs, like Gustav Mahler Lives In Toronto and View From The Chair have been located there too.

On November 14th, 2025, Reddit user Ektelite posted on the r/Lostwave subreddit that they identified the song as Promises To A Prodigy by The New Antics. They posted a demo version of the song and the band's MySpace page which proved that they were correct. When asked how they solved it, they said:

"The OP posted another 2008 mix video, and the first song [Solar From The Sun] on that was by the new antics, only knew that because someone timestamped and commented the song name and artist. And obviously it sounded identical to Let You Know so I did some digging and BOOM solved."

Lyrics[]

[Verse 1]
Son, you became a soldier at only sixteen
So much in front of you
You're so much to dream
I couldn't take away what you believe in
You see many colors, but they all bleed

[Chorus]
I just had to let you know
I just had to let you go
It's what I said to you
What you said to me
Promises to a prodigy
I just had to let you know
What we'll be, we'll be, we'll be

[Verse 2]
So many flashes in my mind
I just close my eyes
I could be anywhere I wanted, that's no surprise
I could be home with my family or my feet at sea?
Just keep your head down
You'll be back soon, hopefully

[Chorus]
I just had to let you know
I just had to let you go
It's what I said to you
What you said to me
Promises to a prodigy
I just had to let you know
What we'll be, we'll be, we'll be

[Guitar Break]

[Chorus]
I just had to let you know
I just had to let you go
It's what I said to you
What you said to me
Promises to a prodigy
I just had to let you know
What we'll be, we'll be, we'll be

The New Antics[]

The New Antics were an indie band formed in May of 2007 in Manchester, UK. They formed after guitarist Adam Moskovitz came across an online advert posted by vocalist Marc Watmough who was requesting a band. After a couple get-togethers, they had created a few songs, and all they needed now was a full band. The line-up was soon completed after brothers Will Robinson on drums and Rob Robinson on the bass joined the band.

They began to play many live shows and join many competitions and built up a list of achievements:

  • Completing a short trip to the USA to record tracks and play shows in New York and Pennsylvania.
  • Winners of the BT Digital Music Awards "Best Unsigned Band" competition.
  • Winners of XFM Unsigned Band in September, where the prize, which had to be turned down due to commitments in America, was to play in the "Green Room" of the BT Music Awards at the London Roundhouse.

Around this time they had recorded Promises To A Prodigy and their other MySpace songs.

In 2008, they were signed to Red Disc Records, where they were said to be recording an LP named "Shake It Up". This LP either was never finished/released or is too obscure to show up anywhere on the internet.

Sometime in between 2008 and 2009, Will and Rob left the band were replaced with Jonny Savage and Marc Radiven respectively.

By 2011, their whole line-up had changed, it was now:

  • Marc Watmough – Vocals
  • Sam Harrison – Keyboards
  • Luciano Alexander Molhina Batchelor - Bass
  • Matty Morgan - Drums
  • Juliet Ighodaro - Backing Vocals

It is unknown what happened to the band after this.

In April of 2025, vocalist Marc Watmough sadly passed away.
