A week later, Guglielm commented on a WFMU playlist made by DJ Bob Brainen, specifying that the songs were recorded 20-30 years prior, specifically between 1981-1984 or 1991-1993, off of WFMU.[2]

On October 15th, 2025, Discord user AzureBlast identified the song as "Primary Filtration" by Ford after running the song through WerZatSong using fingerprints from WZBC show Gulls Window Circus.
Debunked Leads[]
On October 1st, 2022, user Kurty brought up the possibility of the band God Is My Co-Pilot being behind the song, due to their style and vocalist sounding similar, and them performing multiple live sessions on WFMU during the 1990s[4]. Despite multiple band members being contacted, it was only ruled out after the song was solved.
Presumed lyrics[]
[Verse 1]
Before you fucked up,
How long did you wait?
For a song
Too long
I called you up
You stood me up
Sure, you were there
But not there
[Chorus]
Show me a way to yesterday
[Kids will uphold], make me old
I never knew what to do
Song of regret, 'cause I don't get-
[Verse 2]
What took so long?
To live wrong?
Waiting for high school
For now's the chance
Untie my hands
I'm kind of scared
Oh well, oh well
[Chorus]
Show me a way to yesterday
[Kids will uphold], make me old
I never knew what to do
Song of regret, 'cause I don't get-
[Verse 3]
Heads and hands
Cups and pens
Hate my life
Hey, the light
[Think that doesn't make it ain't your fault]
Never knew that nothing felt so good
Now's your chance
Real romance
[Chorus]
Show me a way to yesterday
[Kids will uphold], make me old
I never knew what to do
Song of regret, 'cause I don't get-
[Instrumental Break]
[Chorus]
Show me a way to yesterday
[Kids will uphold], make me old
I never knew what to do
Song of regret, 'cause I don't-
