2017-2022
The song was first posted to WatZatSong on December 30th, 2017 by user avignonfunk, giving it the placeholder name “Hard Life”. They didn’t provide any information about it, but they linked a minute and a half long snippet called "SAMPLE MID TEMPO" on Mediafire.
On February 12th, 2021, user 7belowsiffar replied to avignonfunk’s post linking a longer snippet on Vocaroo, which was eventually deleted and wasn't archived. In the same reply, they said:
I remember seeing a YouTube video of this record, before it was taken down many years ago. The name of the band/artist weren't readable at al, but I remember the label color was red/orange/pink... something in these tones, and it was a 7" record. Title might be "(In) Paradise"[1]
On June 1st, 2022, the song was posted to WatZatSong again by user Bluetree, they provided a 30-second snippet of the first verse that was cut off in the original upload. They also didn’t provide any information about where it came from, but they said it might’ve been from the early 1980s.
2023-2024
Over time, the song was reuploaded to YouTube by several users, such as FatBird, Anon0122, MistaEgg, Q, Ofrix, Zumi, 𝑀𝑟. 𝐶ℎ𝑖𝑝𝑠, LostwaveFinder, AlianTheObscure, Murphy, and multiple others, amassing over 20k views.
On April 11th, 2024, the OP commented on FatBird's reupload, only saying a laughing emoji. Three days later, user Brownieboogie69 replied, saying "The famous M***** is really looking for it", without providing any other information.[2]
On April 24th, 2024, a lower quality snippet was posted to WatZatSong by user NaderR1. They said it was titled The Way To Paradise by Michael Sanders, but nothing could be found. A day later, they linked a YouTube video, but it's now private.[3]
Early-Mid 2025
On April 8th, 2025, Discord user Basketry contacted Lyon Funk community member and collector Brahim, he said he used to have the record, but lost it over 10 years prior, and "The Famous M" was a fake reference.[4]
On June 1st, 2025, 7below was found and contacted, and they provided the Vocaroo link, which only added a few seconds to the song. They said it came from a deleted Facebook live show from 2016 or 2017 that included the vinyl spinning. Bench Out Games[5], the person who made the live was contacted by Basketry.
A day later, Bench Out replied, he refused to give the title due to the record’s rarity, the record wasn’t on Discogs, and that he owned the only known copy of it[6][7]. But he sent a link to a vlog he posted to YouTube on May 27th, 2022, that had the song playing in higher quality, this is likely where bluetree got the sample for his post.
On June 6th, 2025, another slightly longer HQ snippet was found on Bench Out's instagram from 2023, but the song was still uncredited. On the same day, Discord user Numerophobe brought up the post that credited it as Michael Sanders.
On June 11th, 2025, Discord user AzureBlast found a Cocatalog listing for a song titled Paradise by Michael Saunders. He said he contacted John Songdahl, who was also credited on the song, a few days prior.[8]
Two days later, John responded, identifying the song as Paradise by Michael Saunders after he confirmed he and Michael made the song in 1984 or 1985, and it was recorded at his studio in Brookline, Massachusetts.[9]
This claim was backed up by user Charles Calello, who commented on Q’s reupload, saying that he and John worked together in Boston. He also said Michael sang it along with him, John, and musician Sonny Thompson.
On June 16th, 2025, John Songdahl replied to to Charles’ comment, saying that Michael was the vocalist on the song, as Sonny’s voice was more higher pitched and similar to Michael Jackson.[10]
Late 2025
On August 2nd, 2025, after some consideration, the mods over at the Fond My Mind Discord Server decided that the song was considered solved due to overwhelming evidence, such as multiple people who worked with Michael confirming it. On the same day, Murphy made a video about the search[11], and in the comments, AzureBlast said:
"One more detail is that checking Saunders instead of Sanders was a completely lucky break. Coincidentally, one of the discogs entries found by walruscounty had a producer Keith Saunders and for some reason when Numerophobe sent me the Michael Sanders ref he misremembered the wzs comment as 'Michael Saunders' rather than Sanders which is why the surname caught my eye."[12]
On September 7th, 2025, a longer snippet of the song was found in a TikTok posted by Brownieboogie. In the comments Murphy's reupload, Boogie refused to provide the full song.[13][14][15]
On September 14th, 2025, Basketry said she had confirmation that the full song was three minutes and 56 seconds long, but she didn't provide any additional information.[16]
Possible lyrics
Ahhh ahhh
Ahhh ahhh
Dreaming of a place
You and I can go
Where we can escape
No one will never know
Living ecstasy, get to our parties
Give you what you need, show me what you’ve got
I know that you want me
I know that you me
If you will escort me
Then I will take you to paradise!
Just you and I making love all night,
Yes the time is right for the flight
Paradise!
I'll make you see this is meant to be
You are made for me just for me
Paradise!
Sometimes I feel
Your love's too strong
Is this for real
I don’t wanna go wrong
I want you so bad that I can taste the love you have
Don’t let it go to waste
Don’t keep me waiting for very long
Stop, stop
Hesitating, let’s get it on
Paradise!
Just you and I making love all night
Yes the time is right for the flight
Paradise!
You are made for me just for me
Paradise!
I will satisfy your, wildest desires
So, come on, let's take, a ride
Just, you and I
In paradise
Ooh, yeah, yeah
I'll find a place, to hide away
And there we'll stay, let's (???) today
No turning back, keep moving on
Still on the track, where we belong
I, know that you want me
