Osama Vs Dre (formerly known as Osama Bin Laden Diss) is a formerly unidentified diss-track against rapper and producer Dr. Dre by Toronto based rapper D-Sisive (real name Derek Christoff) imitating Osama Bin Laden while insulting Dr. Dre over the instrumental of "The Watcher," a song by Dr. Dre that was released in 1999. It was originally posted with Eminem credited as creator. However, Mr. Porter, a friend of Eminem, later confirmed in a (now deleted) tweet that Eminem did not make the song.
Search History
After the September 11th attacks, Dr. Dre announced a diss track against Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden. Within the following years, a song known as "Osama Bin Laden Diss" appeared online. The origins of the song are unknown.
The earliest known mention of the song is from a Somali music forum from 2006[1] linking to a now defunct site.
The earliest known upload of the full song was posted by x391 on March 2nd, 2007.[2] However, an incomplete snippet was found in a video uploaded by JESSON12 dated August 18th, 2006.[3] Due to the lip-syncing seen in the original video, it is likely that the song predates YouTube, and was likely first shared in peer-to-peer file sharing websites such as LimeWire.
On August 11th, 2024, YouTube user COBYSUCKS! identified the song as "Osama vs Dre" by D-Sisive, after contacting a rapper Spesh K, who knew the artist and had previously credited the song to D-Sisive in a tweet.[4]Derek doesn’t seem to want to claim the song, likely due to its lyrics.
Old theories
There were several theories on the origins of the track, the biggest one being Osama Vs Dre by Jamie North.
One of the first theories was that x391[5], one of the first known uploaders of the song, was the creator of the song. This was supported by the fact that x391 never uploaded anymore videos after the Osama Bin Laden Diss. However, with the discovery of the video by JESSON12 predating the creation of x391's channel, this theory was largely debunked.
Other debunked theories include other artists such as Rucka Rucka Ali (an old-school YouTuber known for offensive covers much like the Osama Bin Laden Diss) and Denace, a rapper with a similar voice to Eminem. Both denied creating the song in private messages in a video by COBYSUCKS![6]
Another lead came out in August 2024, listing a Wayback Machine shot from February of 2002, titled Jamie North - “Osama vs Dre”.
