Search History[]
The song was played on WMBR by DJ Peter Choyce on July 10th, 1998. The broadcast was posted to Mixcloud by user The Peter Choyce Radio Archive in November of 2024.
Later that month on November 26th, 2024, user Choyce reposted the song to WatZatSong, asking who made it.
On May 3rd, 2025, popular lostwave uploader "Ziro" reuploaded the song onto her channel. Roughly three hours after the upload, Discord user "техногенная катастрофа" found a song named "Scrimshanders - Not On Fire", which sounded rather similar the song. It was assumed the version that was lost was a demo version of the song.
Discord user Basketry then contacted the singer/producers to confirm. 12 hours later, it was confirmed by band member John Magee to be a demo of the song from 1998, but the full version of the demo is currently lost.
Lyrics[]
Something lost its hold on me
Can't remember what it used to be
It's been missin' for so long
Nothing's lost until you know it's gone
Let's make plans to wait around
Back-to-back, silent and looking down
I will love you if you guess
All the reasons that I haven't left
Baby, I am not on fire
Nothin' in the world gets me high
But I keep hangin' on
I wake up, go to bed
In-between, I might as well be dead
More you want, the more you lack
The more I give, the more I want it back
Baby, I am not on fire
Nothin' in the world gets me high
But I keep hangin' on
We won't even have good times like we used to
We're gonna do it anyway
I'm not sure I even like the things that you do
So let's do nothing because
Baby, I am not on fire
Nothin' in the world gets me high
But I keep hangin' on
