"Move Like" (formerly known as TikTok Electro Excerpt 2) is a formerly unidentified electro instrumental song composed and released by German artists, "Linus Sandberg" and "Jimi Toc", released in 2011 on the album Reality Television World Vol.22.
Search History
The song was originally posted onto WatZatSong by user musicflame on January 20th, 2024, claiming that he had discovered the song randomly. The description of the sample would say: "I discovered this song by random. Do you have any idea what it is called?" Otherwise, the song doesn't have much info given other than it's categories, it being Soundtracks and Other. The sample also contained a distinct "mhm~" sound effect.
On May 19th, 2024, popular lostwave uploader, "Ziro" would reupload the song to give it more attention and get it identified more sooner. The song would gain more traction due to it's placeholder title being "Tiktok Electro Excerpt 2", only being coined by the community due to the sample sounding like it had came from a Tiktok video and due to how short the sample was.
On July 27th, 2024, user, ehScripts would discover a Youtube Music upload by Linus Sandberg, which was titled "Move Like". Although it was uploaded on July 25th, 2024, a popvirus internet archive shows the full album that the song appeared on, which was titled Reality Television World Vol. 22. It was also confirmed that the song was released on 2011 due to the official YT upload containing "℗ 2011 POPVIRUS Entertainment Company UG (haftungsbeschränkt) & Co.KG"[1].
Later that day, the song would be officially confirmed to be a song by Jimi Toc & Linus Sandberg, which was titled, "Move Like". The song is listed as the 20th song listed on the Reality Television World Vol. 22 Album.
The song also was highly likely inspired by Maroon 5 - Moves Like Jagger (2010) due to the song sounding extremely similar to the song's instrumental and the fact that various songs under the album have soundalikes to other famous songs such as Watermelon sounding like Coldplay - Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall (2011), Amazed sounding like Bruno Mars - Just The Way You Are (2010)[2] and etc.
To this day, the origin of where the "mhm~" sound effect comes from in the original sample, as the sound doesn't play in the actual song. Along with that, the song has been commonly seen as the descendent of "Tiktok Electro Excerpt", which was identified as Next Life Fate by Keyboard Xiaowei.
