”Minimal Synthwave” is an unidentified minimal synthwave song recorded off a New Jersey/New York radio by NY80sTapes.

On June 10th, 2023, user Kenny Cathead posted a one hour and 25 minute video titled “Unknown” to YouTube. It featured many snippets recorded off of the radio in the 1980s. The video included three different snippets of this song.
Kenny reposted the song to his WatZatSong account NY80sTapes on July 9th, 2023. He said it was recorded off of a New York or New Jersey radio station in 1982 or earlier.
On November 24th, 2023, on the FMM Discord thread for the songs he posted, Kenny said that he wasn’t the person who recorded the tapes, but instead a friend who was trying to make a sound collage, but he recorded a few things.[1]
Over time, the song was reuploaded to YouTube by several users, such as S2h, AlianTheObscure, Murphy, Q, 𝑀𝑟. 𝐶ℎ𝑖𝑝𝑠, and multiple others, amassing over 2k views.
Theories[]
Some people theorized that the artist of "Minimal Synthwave" is possibly Don Slepian, the one who created two untitled demo musics that were previously unidentified (1982 and 1983 respectively).
