Search History[]

On November 13th, 2010, user "Cassettemaster" uploaded a video to YouTube titled "Sony TC-270 reel recorder playing music." to YouTube.[1]

After the video got comments asking about the song, he revealed that he didn't know the name of the song, but that he recorded it from KBAF radio station.

Ten years later, "Cassettemaster" uploaded the song in higher quality to YouTube on November 14th, 2020.[2] The description of the video stated;

"I have no idea who made this wonderful piece of music, nor the actual name of the song. Perhaps the YouTube detector will put up the title and band. I recorded this onto cassette off the radio back in 2010. WHAT?! THE RADIO?! Radio doesn't play cool, obscure music like this! Well, KABF 88.3 is the exception. Minimal wave goodness. After requests to upload this song, that I played on a Sony reel-to-reel on a video uploaded years ago, I finally upload a direct transfer, from a rather poor-quality cassette tape (I should have put a better quality tape in the deck. Oh well)."

Five Star Hotel[]

Five Star Hotel was an indie and Britpop band from Thessaloniki, Greece. They have only one album to their name.

The band started as 5*Hotel before eventually changing their name to Five Star Hotel.

The band consisted of: George Begas (vocals), Stelios Theologis (bass), Antony Vellios (keyboards), Loannis Savvides (guitar) and Giannis Varelidis (drums).

The band first met in the University of Birmingham (UK) in 2001. After they have visited numerous gigs, they decided to form a group and just after a while they started composing originals and recording demos.

The band returned to Greece where they kept playing and recording more songs that were included in their album.

The band's sound is ofter compared to British bands like Pulp and The Smiths.

In 2005, the band released their first EP with three songs:

  • This Is The Night
  • No Vacancy
  • Mexican Waltz

In 2010, the band released their first and only album This Sound, which this song was included.

Multiple songs from the album were featured on various compilation albums.

The group disbanded around 2015.
