When contributing to the Lostwave's Finest Wiki, it is important to know our page guidelines before creating an article, such as for a lost song, artist, user, OP, etc. As a guide, use this article as a reference to what other articles in the wiki should look like.
Templating
Notice templates and infobox templates are the two main types of templates used in articles. Make sure that notice templates go first before any infobox templates. Content for the article can be added after.
- Notices templates alert the reader of the article's status if there is one. Examples include the {{Stub}} and {{Delete}} templates.
- Infobox templates organize the important information of an article in a box. Examples include the {{Mysterious Song}} and {{Solved Songs}} templates.
Any other types of templates can perhaps be explained in their documentation page, click here for a full list of all the templates in the wiki.
Articles for unidentified songs
All articles for unidentified songs should include, in order:
- First, add any notice templates, if applicable.
- Second, add the {{Mysterious Song}} infobox, with the important information filled out.
- Introductory paragraph
- The paragraph must begin with the most used placeholder/presumed name of the song, with the name of it being bolded and wrapped in double quotes. (Ex: "Like the Wind")
- Alternate nicknames can also be added after, but must also bolded and quoted. Parenthesis can also be supported if there are more than one.
- The rest of the paragraph should be simple and straightforward to read, containing the genre, when and where the song surfaced, and who posted the song in the first place, which is the OP.
- The paragraph must begin with the most used placeholder/presumed name of the song, with the name of it being bolded and wrapped in double quotes. (Ex: "Like the Wind")
- History
- This is where the chronological background of the song should go.
- For each paragraph, start with the date before introducing the notable event. (Ex: On February 24, 2021, The Lostwave's Fandom Wiki was created.)
- If the history is lengthy, separate them into sub-headings.
- Leads and theories
- If there are at least any notable leads and theories, add them here.
- Each lead/theory can be separated into a paragraph for readability.
- Presumed lyrics
- Presumed lyrics that are the most agreed upon can be added here.
- Wrap them in the
<poem>
tags for easier line-breaking.
- Associated images
- Any associated images that help invoke the feeling of the unidentified song go here.
- Wrap all associated images in
<gallery>
tags. - If there is a lot of associated images, wrap the
<gallery>
tags with collapsible<div>
tags.
- External links
- See #External linking for more information.
External linking
External links provide links to content of what the article provides. Examples of external links include a link to the first post of an unidentified snippet or a link to a YouTube channel.
External links are best to be in bullet points, with a link for each and the name of the link being in a relevant sentence.
Referencing
Referencing is the act of citing sources of information from any other article or post. It is best used for any information or sources that are likely disputable or claimed.
To reference a source, use the <ref>
tags. Inside them, insert an external link. The link should direct the reader to the proper information. You can also customize the name of the link that should be relevant to the link itself.
Sources that can be referenced to include external articles and trustworthy post, comments, and videos.
Category linking
Categories help categorize articles in particular groups and are helpful for navigating.
Linking an article to a category follows the syntax: [[Category:Example]]
and are best to be added at the bottom of an article. To find what categories the article can be best linked to, visit the home page's categories.
Check before creating a page
If you have an unknown song you’d like to submit to this wiki, please make sure to check the following first:
- Try using Shazam (or any other music recognition program)
This may seem like a given, but some have noticed that a lot of pages submitted by users on here are actually findable via Shazam. Please make sure to verify this first before assuming it’s lost. Obvious exceptions include if the song has been falsely copyrighted by someone else, much like with Ulterior Motives.
- Make sure the unknown song has been searched for atleast 2 months, or has been uploaded by a well recognized user
This might seem like it isn’t a problem, but various users have noticed that a lot of pages have been searched recently, and aren’t very notable. Exceptions include songs that have been uploaded by a well known user, such as Just A Game, Into Paradise and Subways Of Your Mind, this also includes well known hoaxes searched less than two months can have their pages created, like This One’s Gonna Fly, Claw Machine, and Girl Talk.
- Search up the lyrics
Before making any lyrics, Check if there is already one that exists. For example:
Unsolved songs: You can try and find other lyrics which other people made in the comments section of videos or in Genius or other lyric websites in rarer cases.
Solved Songs: Search up the lyrics in Genius , Or other Lyrics websites. If you dont find one , You can contribute and make some of your hearing or contact the artist about the lyrics.
- Ask other users
Ask other users in the wiki if they know anything about the song , Sometimes a song could be solved without the person who made that page even knowing, Which could lead to some problems.
- Check if it already has a page
Before making a page , Make sure to search it up in the wiki to see if another user already made it. If you try to make another page with the same name , Most of the times it will tell you that there is already a page with that name.
Why was my page deleted?
Your page could be deleted for those reasons and more:
- Troll Page: A page that serves no purpose except for trolling and spreading misinformation.
- No Content: A page that has no or barely any content or information can be deleted. Most pages like that should be in the Stub category.
