The song was first posted to YouTube on December 13th, 2009, by user flamedelchemist. They said it came from an unlabeled compilation CD. No details were given as to what other songs were on the disc.
On October 28th, 2021, the song achieved more popularity when it was reposted to WatZatSong by user niski. He didn't provide any information about the song, and the exact source of the song was unknown.
Over time, the song was reuploaded to YouTube by several users, such as Q, Ofrix, Zumi, S2h, 𝑀𝑟. 𝐶ℎ𝑖𝑝𝑠, AlianTheObscure, VisualConfusion, and multiple others, amassing over 6k views.
On December 4th, 2023, Discord user BloostMedia discovered the original upload of the song. Prior to this, niski would be falsely attributed as the song's original poster.
2024-2025[]
On September 28th, 2024, it was revealed by Niski himself that the songs he posted were hoaxed and the search was staged. Niski had taken the song from the original upload, and tried to pass himself off as the OP.
After a long period of inactivity, the actual OP returned on January 31st, 2025 to reveal two other songs part of the tracklist: Death Cab For Cutie's 2008 song "No Sunlight," and Norah Jones' 2002 song "Don't Know Why."[1]
On March 11th, 2025, the actual OP replied to her previous comment, saying that other songs on the mix were by Weezer and Franz Ferdinand, and they were mostly from 2007-2009.[1]
On November 1st, 2025, a channel for the song was created in the FMM Discord server after winning a channel poll, along with We Love Da Music, Summer On The Radio, No More Feelings, Key To My Heart, Ground Xero, Popcorn Tape, Road To Nowhere, Getting High and I'm Going On.
