The song was posted to WatZatSong on January 1st, 2015, by user quietstorm. They gave it the placeholder name "When You’re Done Save A Little Bit For Me" and said it was recorded off of an alternative radio station in 1987, but they didn’t provide a longer snippet.
On August 27th, 2024, user Sanclause asked the OP if they had a longer snippet. The OP responded, and said:
"I have the song, which I recorded off a radio station. It is a small mp3 file, low quality. But as you said, it is a great little song. My file is chopped off before the end. This is one of the last songs which I recorded in my younger days which I have not updated by buying the full song somewhere"[1]
On the same day, user Valentinemars commented on the post and said three things:
"the metadata of the sample file shows that this is When You're Done Save a Little For Me by the band William, from 2007. the song is track 18 in the album it comes from according to the metadata.
also, the metadata says the album is called WPTS 2
also, wtps 92.1fm is the name of a college radio station in pittsburgh."[2]
On January 19th, 2025, user MistaEgg replied to the last comment by Valentine. He noted that WPTS was the name of a former pirate radio station in Wisconsin, and that the station is now WFAQ-LP, which has played over a hundred currently and formerly unidentified songs.[3]

Don't know how it started
But I know just how it ends
Everyday it's time to play
You can't take things out on friends
Time to turn all the lights out-
