Search History

2010s

The song was first posted to the New Wave Outpost forums by user Guglielm on August 23rd, 2012 along with multiple other unknown songs. He didn’t provide any information about the songs.

On April 20th, 2013, Guglielm commented on the WFMU.org page for a playlist made by user Bob Brainen, saying the songs were recorded sometime between 1981-1984 or 1991-1993 off of WFMU.

Guglielm reposted the song to WatZatSong on July 13th, 2013, without providing any additional information about it.

Guglielm reposted the song to WatZatSong on August 19th, 2014. According to Guglielm, the song was possibly made by someone named David Byron/Baren/Barron/Bearon, which he had speculated to also have been the same artist as Take Me Down To The Sea, but however, no information about David could be found online.

On December 4th, 2014, Guglielm confirmed TMDTTS was recorded between 1991-1993, meaning this song likely was too.

2020s

On March 26th, 2023, Guglielm confirmed that he digitized all of his cassette tapes with the songs on them in the early 90s, and no longer had any of them anymore.

On the same day, when asked where the song came from, Guglielm said this;

“Yes I think so too. Maybe it was unreleased. I remember the guy was in the studio (WFMU) and talked with the DJ (don’t remember which one) and presented his music."

On May 3rd, 2024, user Geo posted a link to the YouTube channel of a musician named David Baron, theorizing that he could be the person behind the song. David’s music style sounded similar, and his music had apparently played on WFMU.

On June 6th, 2024, David Baron would comment on Ziro's upload of the song, claiming that he made the song when he was a student in WFMU with his friend, Bill Berger, who was a DJ.

After he left the comment, Ziro asked him if he was also behind Take Me Down To The Sea, which he had responded with yes. He also said that he had some cassettes with his old songs (including this one and Take Me Down To The Sea), which he started to look for in the morning.

The following day, he found the cassettes and the title Joe Cauliflower as the one associated with this song, and Ocean was the title associated with Take Me Down To The Sea.

On September 15th, 2024, David Baron uploaded the full song to YouTube, and the isolated tracks, confirming that he actually made it. As of the second half of 2025, he is yet to upload Ocean.

Presumed Lyrics

When the cauliflower rose to power
Cause this is his final hour
He moves out of control
And he moves the technical [moves]

Then one day a microphone fell on him
Joe won’t ever be the same
But the cords got together
And they fixed Ol’ Joe up

And now he’s bigger and stronger now
And he knows that he’s cauliflower… [Joe]

And he knows that he’s cauliflower [Joe]
He knows that he knows that he knows
And he knows that he's cauliflower [Joe]
