Search History

2010s

The song was first posted to the New Wave Outpost forums by user Guglielm on August 23rd, 2012 along with multiple other unknown songs. He didn’t provide any information about the songs.

On April 20th, 2013, Guglielm commented on the WFMU.org page for a playlist made by user Bob Brainen, saying the songs were recorded sometime between 1981-1984 or 1991-1993 off of WFMU.

Guglielm reposted the song to WatZatSong on May 13th, 2013, without providing any additional information about it.

On May 13th, 2014, Guglielm reposted the song to WatZatSong again, he said it was tagged as “Jenny/Janey - Jenny’s Secret” and the song was recorded from 1991-1993.

2020s

On February 11th, 2023, Ziro reuploaded the song onto YouTube on her channel. It was reuploaded again on February 13th, 2024 by user VisualConfusion.

The song was discovered to have sampled The Spinners - It’s A Shame (1970), Coleman Hawkins - Take It On Back (1945), Gussie P. - Funky Punany (1991), and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan - Jhoole Jhoole Lal (1991).

On March 26th, 2023, Guglielm confirmed that he digitized all of his cassette tapes with the songs on them in the early 90s, and no longer had any of them anymore.

On May 12th, 2023, the OP accidentally marked the song as solved on WatZatSong and renamed it Tomek - Love Music, which was the name of another formerly unidentified song they had posted.

On August 24th, 2024, user muteualmortuary found out about the search when listening to songs without knowing the song was unidentified, and identified it as Jany by the French band Les Oidgts.

The following day, a live version of the song was discovered by mckiddie & erin as they ripped it from the “Ouff 91” VHS. They had performed in France in 1991, prior to releasing the song in 1992.

Lyrics

[Chorus]
There's a girl, her name is Jany
And her face looks hard, she's pretty
Walking fast down along the street
She don't care of people she meets
She is the one who wants some freedom
She is the one who gets the boredom
With all the men coming near and muttering
Close to her ear, some dirty things

[Verse 1]
She hates men to look at her that way
Or call her anything, no way
With eyes vicious and feeling nervous
Yeah, sneering bastards feeling nervous
Staring at her skirt, her underwear
All that, all that, more than she can bear

[Verse 2]
Who do they think they are?
Men stopping by her in her car
Who do they think she is?
"Fanny" made for their fantasies
Where do they think they're going?
Spending time on girl hunting
Whistling at her like a dog
Filthy talk from their bog

[Chorus]
There's a girl, her name is Jany
And her face looks hard, she's pretty
Walking fast down along the street
She don't care of people she meets
She is the one who wants some freedom
She is the one who gets the boredom
With all the men coming near and muttering
Close to her ear, some dirty things

[Verse 3]
Quietly, she's waiting at the station
Sitting on a bench, under the neon
The crickets singing in the ceiling
And the neon strip is noisily buzzing
Here comes a bloke to sit for a talk
But Jany's not well and he's pissed like hell

[Verse 4]
Breathing too loud, he acts like he's sad
He starts getting mad and becomes very bad
As she turns her face, he strokes her knee
Hand sweaty creeping towards her pussy
She gets up just to kick him in the balls
Hit his head 'til it goes "bang" against the wall

[Chorus]
There's a girl, her name is Jany
And her face looks hard, she's pretty
Walking fast down along the street
She don't care of people she meets
She is the one who wants some freedom
She is the one who gets the boredom
With all the men coming near and muttering
Close to her ear, some dirty things

[Verse 2]
Who do they think they are?
Men stopping by her in her car
Who do they think she is?
"Fanny" made for their fantasies
Where do they think they're going?
Spending time on girl hunting
Whistling at her like a dog
Filthy talk from their bog

[Outro]
The girl loves men so much
But loves some men with charming ways
The girl laments so much
Not them wankers with what they say
The girl loves men so much
But loves some men with charming ways
The girl laments so much
Not them wankers with what they say
Actually, the girl likes sex
But she likes it very passionate
Actually, the girl likes sex
But she likes it very passionate
The girl loves men so much
But loves some men with charming ways
The girl laments so much
Not them wankers with what they say
The girl loves men so much
But loves some men with charming ways
The girl laments so much
Not them wankers with what they say
Actually, the girl likes sex
But she likes it very passionate
Actually, the girl likes sex
But she likes it very passionate
