Search History
On November 1st, 2006, a WatZatSong user named "LORRAIN", had posted a sample of the song as one of the earliest posts uploaded onto the website. The snippet had only lasted for fifteen seconds, with the genre being labeled by the OP as "classical".
Sometime in 2022, user theosnic930 posted the song to r/NameThatSong. The song was included in a 1996 BMW ad. They said they tried googling the lyrics and using Shazam, but it didn’t work. The post didn’t receive much attention.
The snippet from the website only became slightly popular around 2021, before it became widespread by Q's YouTube upload of the snippet on April 9th, 2023, her video gained over 100k views.
On July 22nd, 2024, at around 2:21 AM EST, a longer sample of the song was discovered to be in a video titled "BMW Z3 Roadster Werbung 1996". This video was found by a Reddit user named "ncc_1701_alpha". It was the same video theosnic930 had posted.
Not too long after, an even longer snippet was discovered in a different BMW commercial. This led to user Turlz finding a copyright registry shows that Martin Nethercutt and Michael Hofmann De Boer made a song called "Into Paradise", which fit the lyrics in the snippet. The same registry had the alternate title of “Ausgetrickst”
Around 1 hour and 40 minutes later, user Techno161 discovered the presumably full song was in an 1990 German crime comedy film titled "Ausgetrickst", along with the fact that the song could be heard four times in the movie, being at 0:00:42, 0:30:00, 1:22:45 and at the ending at 1:39:47. Just 20 minutes later, the IMDB for the song was discovered, showing that the song was made by Michael Hofmann De Boer.
Only a few hours later, Martin Nethercutt was contacted by user cr1tika7, he said the song sounded like him but he didn't remember recording it, as he recorded a lot of songs. Eventually, he confirmed that he was the singer of the song, but did not have a copy of it.
On July 25th, 2024, Michael Hofmann de Boer was contacted, and a relative of his confirmed that he has a high-quality version of the song in his possession, but he was on vacation at the time and was unable to post the song.
Old theories/Debunked Leads
The song was thought to be from the 1980s to 1990s, with it either being recorded from a television, radio, or film by the OP. It was also likely for the snippet to come from such media related to Halloween, as the snippet was uploaded a day after Halloween and includes the saying "Something spooky like the shade of a ghost".
Possibly, the sound of a plane can be heard before the snippet cuts off, which could imply that the OP stopped or cut the recording once it started. There are some faint sound effects heard three seconds into the track. The snippet is also likely to be recorded using a microphone according to its metadata.[1]
The song is also likely to come from France origin, as based from the OP's other WatZatSong samples[2] and their possible Dailymotion and YouTube channels that were located in early June 2024 and created around 2006.[3] These accounts suggest that the OP, LORRAIN, is from France and is also interested in war and history.[4]
Presumed Full lyrics
[Intro]
Mmmm... Ah...
[Verse]
I'm feelin'
I'm close
To something spooky like the shade of a ghost
There's a certain tension rising in the air
My head is achin'
Fingers wet
I’ve placed the joker right on top over there
There’s no need to wonder used to guess what you did
[Pre-Chorus]
Where will they find it?
A thousand miles from home
I'm approaching the altitude knowing that I'm on my own
So close, just one step to heaven
Don't hesitate
Just keep the coast, you know
It's far too late
[Hook]
Wheels turnin'
Hearts burnin'
Take it off and fly into paradise
She's cheatin'
Heart's speedin'
Just tryna make it back
Wheels turnin'
Hearts burnin'
Take it off and fly into paradise
[Bridge]
Hmm, we're takin' off tonight
Into paradise..
[Verse 2]
Still searchin'
You still pray
That they won't find you at the end of the day
And you don't have to worry
It's a part of the plan
[Pre-Chorus]
Who feels the lightning?
Whoever gets the touch
Can we live without loving or feeling
It's just too much
So close, just one step to heaven
Don't hesitate
Just keep the coast, you know
It's much too late
[Chorus]
Wheels turnin'
Heart's burnin'
Take it off and fly into paradise
She's cheatin'
Heart's speedin'
Just tryna make it back
Wheels turnin'
Heart's burnin'
Take it off and fly into paradise...
