Search History[]

On April 13th, 2020, user KevC uploaded the song to WatZatSong alongside another formerly unidentified song, Useless. In the post’s description, they said:

“I found this in my self-made CD from around 2000. Some nice britpop/ indie tune. Would be very happy to know name and/or artist. Thanks !”

The snippet provided was only 30 seconds, the maximum length for a WatZatSong post, and the OP went inactive before posting a longer sample.

On August 15th, 2024, the OP returned and posted the full version of the song to Vocaroo, saying they completely forgot they posted the song, and that they had lost contact with the person they got the CD from.

Only five minutes later, user RojoCatto put the song into music identification program MusicBrainz, and it said the song was idle Life by The Pansies. No audio of the song existed online at the time, but the band sounded similar.

Half an hour later, the song was identified after Discord user Vitarye found the lyrics to the song in Japanese that matched the song. After the album including the song was bought it was 100% confirmed to be the same song.

Lyrics[]

[Verse 1]
Season's changing
A sense of rearranging is in the air
It has got a colour
Got a sound, it hit me
And left me all dumbfounded

[Pre-Chorus]
The things we never do
The places we never go to
Let's give it a try, maybe tonight

[Verse 2]
I could write a novel
You could paint the walls
With shiny shapes and flowers
Yeah, we could lead
A true Bohemian lifestyle, indeed

[Pre-Chorus]
The things we never do
The places we never go to
Lеt's give it a try, maybe tonight

[Chorus]
Yes, wе could be beautiful
It could be wonderful
Let's give it a try, maybe tonight

[Bridge]
Oh, yeah
Oh, we should see again

[Pre-Chorus]
The things we never do
The places we never go to
Let's give it a try, maybe tonight

[Chorus]
Yes, we could be beautiful
It could be wonderful
Let's give it a try, maybe tonight
Yes, we could be beautiful
It could be wonderful
Let's give it a try, maybe tonight
