Billy Newton Davis[]

Billy Newton‑Davis (born April 26, 1951, Cleveland, Ohio) is an American‑Canadian singer and songwriter in the genres of R&B, jazz and gospel. He began his career as a teenager as one of the vocalists of the soul group The Illusions, then worked as a singer and dancer on Broadway in New York. In 1980, he moved to Toronto, where in 1986 he released his debut album Love Is a Contact Sport, which won the Juno Awards for Best R&B/Soul Recording; hits include "Deeper", "Right Beside You" and "Find My Way Back". In 1989, Spellbound's second album was also awarded the Juno; It included the big Canadian hit "I Can't Take It" and the duet with Celine Dion "Can't Live With You, Can't Live Without You". In 1991-1994, he was a member of the a cappella group The Nylons, later collaborated with deadmau5 (Juno Award for dance track "All U Ever Want" in 2008), continued to perform and record music in the genres of jazz and gospel, remaining a prominent figure in the Canadian scene.

More than 30 years later, in 2020, Billy Newton Davis releases his EP, which apparently became the last in his career.
