Lyrics[]

I don't want to see the sun this morning
Oh, not when a broken heart of you is the only reminder of you
I don't want to look for something I am meant to find, but that container says the name of mine
I wish it referred to one body more than my mind

But everything that you avoid is only used to annoy
There'd be no second thoughts you said
I was born a few breaths short
But I'm not holding my breath with someone like you

I can control my rhetoric, I can still hold back a cigarette
But I'm not holding my breath with someone like you
I'm not holding my breath with someone like you

But do you know a second thought she said
I was born a few breaths short, but I'm not bored of my breath with someone like you
I can control my regrets and hurt, I can still hold back the cigarette. But I'm not holding my breath with someone like you
I'm not holding my breath with someone like you

Why is this this friendly conversation always suddenly so rough?
Interrogation, could we be left all alone?

Keep talking, never stop
The telephone never felt so hot
I've never heard you talk this way and there's one thing that I could never say
The oven hasn't worked since the day
I put my head inside

This is it, stay out of her room
This is it, stay out of your room

But do you know a second thought she said
I was born a few breaths short, but I'm not bored of my breath with someone like you
I can control my regrets and hurt, I can still hold back the cigarette. But I'm not holding my breath with someone like you
I'm not holding my breath with someone like you
I'm not holding my breath with someone like you

The Mad Turks From Istanbul[]

The Mad Turks From Istanbul were a power pop band from Adelaide. They were formed in 1984 by Chuck Skatt (Charles Jenkins) on vocals, Dom Benedictine III (Dominic Larizza) on drums, Martyn La Merde (Martyn Christopher) on bass and Hank M Turk (Matthias Eckhardt) on guitar. In 1986 Steve Caon joined on drums and Benedictine moved to guitar. While in Adelaide they released a series of singles and their debut album, Cafe Istanbul (1987, Greasy Pop).

In 1989 Turk left the band and Skatt started playing guitar. The remaining members moved to Melbourne and became The Mad Turks. There they released their second album, Toast (1990, Greasy Pop), and three more singles before disbanding. Skatt and Benedictine went on to form Icecream Hands.
