The song was originally uploaded onto MixCloud by a user named "The Peter Choyce Radio Archives" on December 6th, 2023. The song played at around the 1:53 and was announced to have been "Rip-Off - History Book" but it hasn't been proven to be the song yet.

Later on, on November 26th, 2024, a WatZatSong user named "Choyce" would reupload the song onto the website. Due to WZS's 30-second copyright rule, Choyce had to provide a Vocaroo link to the full recording.

Just a day later, WatZatSong user sweetiecap found a band from Boston called Rip-Off on Discogs. Despite the genre and location matching, it wouldn't be proven yet that they were the actual artists behind the song.

On November 28th, user Girlwantsboy found an upload of their song Albatross on Vimeo. And the vocals and style of the band sounded very similar.

On February 19th, 2025, YouTube user "Ziro" would reupload the song onto her channel, giving the song more attention and hopefully getting it solved more sooner.

On March 5th, 2025, WatZatSong user Basketry contacted band member Mary Feuer, who confirmed the song was by them. She said it was from a cassette demo from around 1988.

Lyrics[]

[Verse 1]
Every time some kid pucks up his cheeks
And makes that “oink oink” piggy wiggy sound at you
That’s in my history book
Every time that they pull your hair
Or ask you what size dress you wear
That’s in the history book

[Chorus]
It’s no wonder that an order of fries becomes better than a fuck
It may not seem that way to you
But when he feasts his eyes on these thunder thighs in the way
And I need something inside of me
Something to put in my history book

[Verse 2]
Drop a penny in a well
A wish is not a wish until the splash hits its history
History book
Drop it into the well of fate
Maybe one penny too late
For the history book

[Chorus]
It’s no wonder if the prom don’t get you, the beats will
One way or another, I will be full
Filled by these guys and buy an order of fries
I don’t know, I just need something inside of me
Something to put in my history book

[Instrumental Outro]

Rip-Off[]

Rip-Off was an alternative rock band from Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

The band consisted of Mary Feuer (vocals, bass), Tim Biggins (drums), Robert Feuer (vocals, guitar), and Steve Melanson (saxophone).

In 1989, they released their first and only EP, Albatross, with three songs.

Around 1988, they recorded this song, but never released it. It’s possible they have more unreleased demos, but that’s unconfirmed.

Shortly after, the band disbanded.
