Sometime before February 26th, 2006, the song was posted to a website called HouseOfScandinavia as a “new demo”. The filename was “the_happy.mp3” and it was a low quality minute long snippet. The site had other unidentified demos, such as It’s Gonna Be You. Although website is now defunct, the songs can be found and listened to via Internet Archive's Wayback Machine.
Om January 30th, 2019, the song was uploaded to WatZatSong by user MemeSupreme. They said they got it from a bubblegum pop music forum where someone posted full versions of the demos.[1]
On April 16th, 2019, YouTube user Happy House, which is the official YouTube account of the website bubblegumdancer.com, uploaded the full song, only crediting it to HouseOfScandinavia.
In the comments, user FantailCookie link3d a now deleted bubblegumdancer forum thread about the House of Scandinavia demos, which is most likely the source of MemeSupreme's upload.[2][3]
Over time, the song was reuploaded to YouTube by several users, such as Snowy, Q, Revolutionary_War, Ofrix, SpikeytheCactus, AlianTheObscure, 𝑀𝑟. 𝐶ℎ𝑖𝑝𝑠, and multiple others, amassing over 10k views.
On August 24th, 2024, the song was discovered to most likely be Happy In The Rain by producer group Doolittle, as they made songs for licensing on the House Of Scandinavia website in the early 2000s before it was removed[4]. The group’s style and the singer also sound identical, her real name isn’t known, but it is known that she’s an ex-girlfriend of Danish producer Jens C. Ringdal.[5]
