On June 10th, 2023, user [[Kenny Cathead]] posted a one hour and 25 minute video titled “[https://youtu.be/NgbmVNyjtdw?si=b8ymx__XSEW6OAGC&t=5136 Unknown]” to YouTube. It featured many snippets recorded off of the radio in the 1980s. The song played one hour, twenty minutes, and thirty-six seconds into the video.

On December 2nd, 2023, [[WatZatSong]] user [[BloostMedia|Bloost Media]], known for identifying and reposting many Kenny Cathead's songs, reuploaded the snippet onto the site. The song was recorded off of a New York or New Jersey based radio station.

On November 24th, 2023, on the [[Fond My Mind Discord Server|FMM Discord]] thread for the songs he posted, Kenny said that he wasn’t the person who recorded the tapes, but instead a friend who was trying to make a sound collage, but he recorded a few things.<ref>[[File:Ny80sYeah.jpg|thumb]]

On October 25th, 2024, Bloost found that the style of the song was similar to an industrial band named "'''Test Dept.'''", who also had a song on NY80s’ tape. After looking into their discography, he identified it as their song "'''Gdansk'''" from 1985.
