”Fur Rugs” [1] is an unidentified instrumental easy listening song. It was posted to YouTube in 2007 by Bootsnfurrugs.

Search History[]

On January 4th, 2007, user Bootsnfurrugs posted the song on YouTube, claiming in the description that the song was ripped MUZAK's Environmental Channel (Dishnet Channel 920). [2]

Muzak is a company that distributes instrumental covers of songs, aswell as original instrumentals for retailers, with the Muzak Environmental Channel being the only one which plays music arranged specifically for the channel.[3]

Commenters claim to remember the song playing on several different radio stations, including 99.7 KMBR in Kansas City,[4] the Plaza or Easy Instrumental channels on SiriusXM,[5] and on the playlist of Alco stores in the American Midwest before the chain closed down in October 2014.[6][7]

On March 19th, 2024, C. W. Schultz uploaded a video titled “Songs Searched for Longer than the Most Mysterious Song on the Internet”, featuring “Fur Rugs” in the video.

On March 29th, 2024, Ziro reposted the song onto her YouTube channel.

Leads and theories[]

Andre Mayeux, a composer/arranger for MUZAK from the 80's to late 90's, confirmed he made the song. However, he does not remember the title, as he recorded hundreds of other original tunes exclusively for Environmental. Guitarist Grant Geissman, who played on almost every song arranged by Andre for MUZAK, also confirmed that it is him playing both the lead and rhythm guitar in the song.
