Frozen (formerly known as "Frozen Heart") is a formerly unidentified alternative rock song by New York based musician Cassidy Ladden, recorded in 2010. The song had been recorded at multiple Russian malls before being identified.
Search History
2016-2017
On April 18th, 2016, the song was posted to WatZatSong by user TipoDual. He said it was recorded directly off of a Russian mall radio.
TipoDual posted the full song to YouTube, albeit in low quality, on December 30th of the same year, giving it the placeholder name "Frozen".
On June 19th, 2017, TipoDual posted another, slightly higher quality, snippet of the song to WatZatSong. He provided the same information.
2020: New OP
On July 3rd, 2020, the song was posted to the r/tipofmytongue subreddit by user UnluckyDayOfMe. The post read:
"Fellow redditors, I'm truly desperate to find one song that resonated deep with my heart. I don't know who was the singer or how did it called, no relevant search results, Shazam didn't find anything. It wasn't new, approximately released between 2000-2015. Female singer, voice and music style quite like Evanescence at "Bring me to life" (at first I believed it was her/them, but no, because I'd already knew about it). Most important that I even have a bad quality dictaphone record of it! But Google fucks me up with all sorts of Disney Frozen in my useless searching attempts."
When user illbreakyourleftarm brought up the possibility of the song being Frozen Heart by Ronan Keating and Laura Michelle Kelly, Unlucky posted a snippet of it to Google Drive.[1][2]
In response to user guy_fieri_poppins asking where the song came from, Unlucky said that it was likely put into a prepared track list made for a mall's inner sound system.[3]
In reply to that, user Mak25672 asked what country Unlucky worked in, they said they worked in Russia, but they doubted the singer was Russian.[4]
Two users, FretoZoneGames and endemic_glow, asked Unlucky to contact the mall about the song, they said it had a new owner and played different music.[5][6]
2021-2024
On December 28th, 2021, TipoDual posted a higher quality version of the song to YouTube, possibly after it played again.
Over time, the song was reuploaded to YouTube by several users, such as Q, Aero, Ofrix, Zumi, Stardust, and multiple others, amassing over 5k views.
On May 31st, 2024, the song was reposted to WatZatSong by user GiuliaM. They didn’t provide any information, nor a longer snippet.
On July 19th, 2024, TipoDual posted a video of the song playing in the Afimall City shopping mall in Moscow[7]. It is unknown if this is the same shopping mall the original snippet came from, or if the song was also playing in Afimall City.
On July 24th, 2024, the song was identified by user Discord Funado as Frozen by Cassidy Ladden after he contacted writer and lyricist Dana Calitri.[8]
