The song was posted to WatZatSong by user Pace on April 17th, 2024. According to Pace, the song came from a cassette tape he purchased from a thrift store that had multiple other unidentified songs. There was an extended version of it on Vocaroo. A 39 second snippet was found, followed by a 1 minute and 13 second snippet.
In July of 2024, the song was found to be a hoax. This was found out after someone noticed that the vinyl crackling in another one of Pace’s former unknown songs was the exact same as a YouTube upload of the song. This meant Pace likely downloaded the audio from a YouTube video and the alleged tape didn’t actually exist.
Pace responded to these claims, and said whoever made the tape was likely trying to create a hoax on purpose, by finding clips of forgotten songs and cutting out the title, but this is unlikely.
On August 5th, 2024, the song was identified by user ¿ as Free For All by Wings Of Light. They solved the song after finding an upload of it on YouTube.
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
This world just keeps on spinning faster
On the edge, on the brink of disaster
[Chorus]
There is panic in the street, confusion from the heat, oh desire
Seems like everyone wants more, the headlines talk of war
As we're walking on a wire, in a free for all
Of the madness, can you hear his call
You don't need to fall, don't you know his love is free for all
[Verse 2]
Latest craze, dreams I've sent into a washer
Chasing pleasure with consuming devotion
[Bridge]
And the pressure of that life is cutting like a knife into the heart
You haven't time to lose, there's hardly time to choose
Before the world is torn apart, in a free for all
Of the madness, can you hear his call
You don't need to fall, don't you know his love is free for all
[Outro]
Free for all
Of the madness, can you hear his call
You don't need to fall, don't you know his love is free for all
In a free for all
Of the madness, can you hear his call
You don't need to fall, don't you know his love is free for all
Wings Of Light

After plenty of concerts, the band put out their second album In A Different Light in 1982.
