Flash Back is a Freakbeat Rock song from the Side 1 (counterpart of "Side A" most likely) of an Emidisc acetate that bears the name "Hush". However, it is unknown if the name is even correct or existent. It was originally listed on the now defunct list page where featured unknown UK songs on British Music Archive, tagged as "Hush Flash Back Original". At this point, we're not able to find the Side 2 track (or it may not exist).

Search History[]

On September 18th, 2020, obscure acetate collector "no" (@no-tube) uploaded the song with the acetate image to YouTube, asking viewers to provide any information on it. They also presumed the artist was named "Hush", whose name was written down on the matrix. However, they couldn't tell if it's even correct.

After May 2nd, 2024, at the video of The Shadows That Are Cast, they provided additional information of the song's origin under the reply to jcorsen, saying it's originally posted on the now removed page on British Music Archive and the filename was tagged as "Hush Flash Back":

""Hush Flash Back" is another one that I uploaded from there that's also unidentified other than the file name. If you want another challenge btw :)"[1]

Leads[]

Around the 1960s, there were several bands under the name "Hush" in UK, while it makes more difficult to identify the certain "Hush" band. Barely is discovered at this time except the band preferred to produce on Emidisc most likely.

Possible[]

  • The Hush (Hammond-Hazlewood): Songwriter teams Albert Hammond & Mike Hazlewood behind as the producer. The band has a similar vocal to the song in question.

Debunked[]

  • The Hush (formerly The Chosen Few): the band was cited as a lead due to themselves renaming the band name in spring 1966 and later producing some songs on Emidisc acetates. This was later debunked after user Ларин Андрей contacted a Discogs user named Hush1966, the former owner of one of their acetates.[2]

Lyrics[]

[Verse 1]
Flashing back the days with my moments and imaginations
She was looking [?????] but she never [?????]
Sittin' alone in a chair, thinkin' about the times that never happened before [our love] DIED

[Verse 2]
See you walking down the street, but you just look the other way
You don't give me chances to explain, I mean, I'd like to say
Sittin' alone in a chair, thinkin' about the times that never happened before [our love] DIED

[Instrumental Break]

[Verse 3]
Now I have a number [?????] lasting for flashing out
Before I see your smile looking over me
I used to sit alone in the chair and count the [?????],
Cuz now I'm GONE
