Search History[]
The song was played on WZBC by DJ Peter Choyce on June 7th and July 13th of 2001, with Peter announcing the song was called Father Dick by an artist named Nancy Lancy. The broadcast was posted to MixCloud by user The Peter Choyce Radio Archive in 2023.
On December 1st, 2024, WatZatSong user Choyce reposted the song to the site, stating that the song was tagged as "Father Dick" by Nancy Lancy, providing a link to the broadcast they got the song from.
On the same day, user Girlwantsboy found mention of a musician named Nancy Lancy in a 2001 magazine, but he couldn’t find any songs by her at the time. Later that day, he found a SoundCloud account including a song called Let’s Go To The Mall, which also played on WZBC, and her voice sounded identical.
On December 30th, 2024, user Girlwantsboy found mention of the song’s existence on wmbr.org, but there wasn’t any audio of the song.
On January 25th, 2025, Girlwantsboy fully identified the song as Father Dick by Nancy Lancy after he found audio of the song on an archive of Nancy’s website.
On February 8th, the secondary vocalist was identified as Peter Choyce himself after Girlwantsboy found a page on his website mentioning the song he was “F.D.” in the song, which most likely means Father Dick.
Lyrics[]
[Peter Choyce]
Now, all these things are examples for us
To warn us, not to desire evil things as they did
Not to worship idols as some of them did
As the scripture says,
The people sat down to eat and drink
And got up to dance
We must not commit sexual immortality as some of them did
And in one day, 23,000 of them fell dead
We must not put the lord to the test as some of them did
And they were killed by the snakes
You must not complain as some of them did
As they were destroyed by the angel of death!
All these things happened to them as examples for others
And they were written down as a warning for us
We live in a time when the end is about to come
[Nancy Lancy]
Father Dick, are you sick
Of the sermons, you have to give
All those sleepy sheep, listening
Sister Steve, do you believe
In that book, You have to read
All those letters to, the Corinthians
And you got the call that you had been saved
You never would‘be had a family anyway
We’ll tell you all our dirty little secrets on confession day
If you forgive us for our sins
[Peter Choyce]
You’re a man, a very young man
And, part is having a lot of sexual experiences
Hmm, you want to go to heaven don’t you
Don’t you Bobby
[Nancy Lancy]
There you sit, Father Dick
In the red dream
Where you keep your pornography
From Sister Timothy
When you got the call and you knew you had been saved
You never would’ve had a family anyway
We’ll tell you all our dirty little secrets on confession day
If you forgive us for our sins
Our sins (our sins)
Our sins
Our sins (our sins)
Our sins
Our sins (our sins)
[Peter Choyce]
Just like Jesus would
Come, I shall give you access to my body
It’s better for you to come to me
Than it is for you to be, down on your knees in some dirty alley somewhere for a stranger
Think of it, saved, saved, lad
[Nancy Lancy]
(whispering)
