Erosion (also known as Higher) is an unidentified lo-fi indie rock/slowcore song.

2022[]
The song was posted to YouTube on January 22nd, 2022 by user Sushi Squad Productions, titling it "Erosion" - Unknown Boston College Radio Indie Rock Song - Lostwave". The description read:
"So basically, I found this song on a cassette mixtape in the Boston area labelled "BC Radio Mix 3" which I think could be either Boston or Babson College. Most of these songs I was able to ID except this one and another. I uploaded this one because I like it better but will upload the other if this one gets solved."
Whilst BC could mean either Boston or Babson College, the latter didn’t have a radio station in the 1990s and early 2000s. Multiple people from both colleges were contacted, but nobody knew the song. Multiple WZBC DJs, including Peter Choyce, were contacted aswell, but they didn't know either.
Over time, the song was reuploaded to YouTube by multiple users, such as Zumi, Antonio's Remastered Works, Q, Bonemach1ne, No Background, VisualConfusion, MistaEgg, Ofrix, S2h, LostwaveFinder, Aero, AlianTheObscure, Rocketballboi, and multiple others, amassing over 9k views.
2023-2024[]
On March 3rd, 2023, a channel for the song was created in the Fond My Mind Discord server after winning a channel poll, being put in the "Unknown Songs (1)" category. Three days later, Q reuploaded the song. The OP joined the server, and said the mix was actually called BCR Radio Mix, but then went inactive.
On June 21st, 2024, Discord user Niski discovered evidence that the song was likely recorded off of satellite radio, and given that a low-power transmitter was installed on the Babson College campus on February 26th, 1998, this makes it likely that the song was recorded sometime around that date.[1]
Two days later, Niski contacted Eric McGlynn, the original Babson College radio manager. He responded and said it reminded him of a local band called Shem[2], but the only known band with that name from around the time did techno[3]. Eric said he'd get Niski in touch with someone who knew the band, but he hasn't responded since.[4]
2025: Hoax Allegations[]
Controversy arose when the OP displayed inconsistent behavior and made several unverifiable claims about their background and the song's origins. Community members noted that the user was unable to provide basic verifiable information, such as a timestamped tracklist, citing reasons like “financial data” contained in the associated Google document.
Despite previously agreeing to verify their claims through a video call and a Q&A session with PersonOfDistraction, the OP disappeared before either could occur. Subsequent discussion among community members suggested that the OP might have been using alternate accounts and had exaggerated aspects of their personal history.
Additionally, on October 13th, 2025, FMM staff member sveta asked the OP if he could reveal the title of the song, as well as showing the document with the timestamped tracklist, to which the OP left the server without saying anything. Due to these credibility issues, Erosion is regarded as a likely hoax.
