Emotions (Orange Sun) (formerly known as Emotion or Unknown Quake Song) is a formerly unidentified progressive rock/trance song by Californian band A Private View. This version of the song was a live demo from 1984.

The song was posted to YouTube on January 21st, 2012 by user Rayncatt. She said the song was recorded from Quake Radio Station in San Francisco around 1982. She had contacted DJs from the station, but none of them knew the song.
On July 15th, 2021, a deleted Discord user discovered that the song had lyrics, but they were very hard to decipher due to how quiet they were. They theorized the lyrics said something along the lines of “you can help me”, “emotions”, or “hell ocean”.
On November 24th, 2021, Discord user BlueJay contacted the owner of the radio station, Tim Bedore. He said he didn’t recognize the song, but he said members of the Quake Radio Facebook Group could’ve possibly known.
Discord isee Jacob found out that user Spud had already reposted the song to the Facebook group in February of 2012. DJ Adam K Mil replied to the post saying that the song wasn’t in rotation in April 1983 and that the band might’ve been from Marin. He also said that the band name or song title had the word “cat” in it and was two words.
Discord user PersonOfDistraction contacted DJs Paul Wells, DB Wilson and Belle Nolan. None of them knew the song, but Belle recommended POD to contact Howie Klein, the co-founder of a record label in San Francisco. He said he said the song sounded familiar, but didn’t recognize the song.
On June 16th, 2024, the song was identified by Reddit user aongus_ as a demo of Emotions (Orange Sun) by A Private View. They had found the song after finding a radio broadcast where DJ Belle Nolan had played a song by the band. They had a similar style to the song, and they had a song called Emotions (Orange Sun). The song was on YouTube, and the version was slightly different, but it was undeniably the same song.
Guitarist and vocalist of the band, Mark Caputo, confirmed that the version aired on Quake was a live demo performed at Morrison Planetarium in Golden Gate Park in 1984. A Private View was a new wave band from San Francisco, California, USA. They formed in 1982.
The band consisted of Mark Norman/Caputo, Nicholas Gardner, Robert Stanton, and Stephen Escobar.
In 1987, they released this first and only single, self titled A Private View, with two songs.
