On October 11th, 2011, a Russian forum user named Garage101 asked if anyone knew the song. They told that the song appeared in a thriller movie named "Nightmare Street". Here is the quote what they said:
Hello everyone.
This seems to me to be a mind-boggling task. At least, it turned out to be beyond my capabilities, so I ask for your help. So, I'm trying to identify the song and the band performing it in order to get to know the band's work better. I heard the song in the TV movie Slozhenie / Nightmare Street (1998). Around the 22nd-23rd minute, the main character goes out onto the balcony of a tall building, looks into the distance, and this song plays. The song is short, there are few words, the full sound of the song seems to fit into this 2-minute episode. The lyrics are not all clear, but other participants of the conference on imdb.com who are also looking for this song suggested several versions of the lyrics.
It seems that the song has no more words and is very short. In style, it is a fairly typical song for some young girl pop-rock group of the late 80s and early 90s. According to the song, it was not possible to find it, and since the film is old and made for television, the final credits do not indicate whose music was used. This film is on Rutracker and in the thread about it someone is also interested in this song, but it has not been possible to identify the song yet. I would be very grateful for help in identification.

2024-2025
On March 26th, 2024, Discord user PersonOfDistraction contacted the music editor for the film, Nancy Severinsen, and she said that the song originated from a now defunct music library called DSM Producers. A copyright registry was found for a DSM Producers song called "Edge Of A Dream". It listed Charlie Wilson, Cindy Wilson, and Wilson C as performers, as well as Wilson Allen Charles and Wilson Cynthia Lenora.
On April 2nd, 2024, PersonOfDistraction contacted someone named Kelly Springer, who knew the president of DSM Producers Inc, Suzan J. Bader. She was contacted and identified the song as Edge of a Dream by Charlie and Cindy Wilson after she confirmed the listing was the song. However, the full version wasn’t available.
On September 27th, 2024, the song was considered fully solved in the lostwave community after Memorybank’s songs were solved due to “overwhelming evidence”. Since those songs were considered solved, this song and Words, another song that was in verification needed due to lack of HQ audio were considered solved.
On May 18th, 2025, over a year after the song was identified, Charlie Wilson finally responded to messages sent to him and said he was going to send out CDs to Discord user AlanDoesThings. Four days later, on May 22nd, the CDs including songs recorded by twas sent to Alan and it was posted to Discord.
Lyrics
Close my eyes to the darkness around
I can see you standing there
So far away, I can’t hear a sound
Well I would know you anywhere
Holding into precious time
Forever couldn’t be enough
I’ll be here at the end of the line
Waiting for you to send your rope
Standing on the edge of a dream
Looking over to the other side
Will you love me when I make it through
To a different place and time
Now here you are, closer than before
Holding out your hand for me
If I tell you, will you close the door?
Oh, will it set me free
Standing on the edge of a dream
Looking over to the other side
Will you love me when I make it through
To a different place and time
Standing on the edge of a dream
Looking over to the other side
Will you love me when I make it through
To a different place and time
Standing on the edge of a dream
Looking over to the other side
Will you love me when I make it through
To a different place and time
When will I see you again?
Can I find you on the edge of a dream?
On the edge of a dream
Charlie and Cindy Wilson
Charlie Wilson and Cindy Wilson were folk rock, country rock, southern rock, and AOR musicians from Asheville, North Carolina, USA.
They were active in the bands Hit & Run, Allies and Stone Lily
Sometime around 1988, the duo recorded Edge Of A Dream under the band name Allies, presumably along with uncredited session musicians. It was intended to be the fourth track on their album of the same name. It's unclear if the song was ever officially released, but it was later sold to the stock music library DSM Producers in 1997.
In 1990, their song Can't Get Close Enough was featured on the compilation album RiverRock: Southern Musicians For Clean Water To Benefit The French Broad River Foundation.
In 1992, their song Fallen Angel was featured on the compilation album River Rock II.
In 1994, the band released their first and only album, Timescape.
Shortly after, the band disbanded.
In 2012, Charlie Wilson, using the pseudonym Allen Wilson, recorded the country album 'Carolina Hound'
Today, Cindy works as a tarot card reader and Charlie doesn’t seem to be active.
