Search History[]
The song was posted to the r/TipOfMyTongue subreddit and SoundCloud in 2019 by user Clipperjangle. It was recorded off of non commercial radio station KBOO in Portland, Oregon in 1994.
On December 6th, 2020, the OP reposted the snippet to his YouTube channel "Most Mysterious 90s" and WatZatSong account IceeStare. He said the station was already contacted and they didn’t remember the song.
The OP gave an explanation for why the snippets he recorded were so short, saying in his channel’s bio:
“In the first half of the 90s, I used to record tapes from the radio which consisted of mostly incomplete songs, usually very short snippets. I think the idea was to make a sort of weird radio sound-collage, and to create an audio snapshot of what was on the radio at the time, and to fit hundreds of songs onto a 60- or 90-minute tape.”
On December 3rd, 2022, the OP themselves identified the song as "Days That Never Were" by "Treehouse" featuring artist "Steve Fisk" and was released in 1992.
Lyrics[]
I don't wanna talk about them days that never were
Those days of emptiness, they seem like such a blur
Everyone's slept with everyone else
They've left good taste behind
Those stinky little propositions
Quarantined to the corners of my mind
But I don't think about regret
When I'm looking back at you
You're doing what you want
And I'm living out my life sentence too
[Guitar Solo]
I don't think talk about them days that never were
Those days wеre like throwing stones at a flock of dеad birds
Mother has remarried, daddy's in the depths
My sister is an actress now
My brother passed bad traveler's checks
As for me, I'm not free just yet
I'm looking for a sign
When you're on a dead end street
It's hard to shed a one track mind
I don't wanna talk about it
I know I can live without it
The days that never were, the days that never were
The days that never were, the days that never were
[Guitar Solo]
