Centerfold is a formerly unidentified pop rock song released and recorded by the band, Velveeta in 1998. The song itself is a cover of The J. Geils Band - Centerfold (1981).
Search History
The song was first posted to Youtube, on November 16th, 2022, by user Callie CD Archive. It was obviously a cover of "Centerfold" by The J. Geils Band but MusicBrainz said that the song was the same. The name of the file was titled "center.wav" and was found on a Memorex DVD+R Recordable Disc, along with Sunshine Day. The last modified date was June 1st, 2005.
On August 12th, 2024, user Mystic65 discovered the song was likely to have been recorded and created by the band, Velveeta, as when they put the song into MusicBrainz again, it said the song was by them, and they had various Youtube uploads of them performing their cover of the song.
On October 23rd, 2024, Discord user "Murphy" had managed to get in contact with one of the members of Velveeta, that being "Brent Martin". Luckily, Brent Martin had the full version and provided the full song to Murphy. The song was then finally identified, and this version of the song was recorded live at "Crobar" in 1998.

Velveeta
Velveeta is a cover band from State College, Pennsylvania, USA. The band was formed in 1995 by four college students.
The band consists of: Brent Martin (keyboards and vocals), John “Bones” Harper (drums), Brian Kriley (guitar and backup vocals) and Adam Becker (bass).
Velveeta is known for their high-energy shows featuring a mix of cover songs from the 80s, 90s and 2000s. Some of their set list includes songs by Journey, The Cars, Bon Jovi, Duran Duran, Neil Diamond, Guns 'N Roses, Tom Petty, U2, Cyndi Lauper, and Billy Idol.
The band is still active today. The band has performed at Steelers games, pre-game festivities at Beaver Stadium, and Penn State's THON.
