Carl92 is an OP that is known for posting the lostwave song "Ulterior Motives" (formerly known as "Everyone Knows That" by the community).
He stated to have recorded it around 1999. After more people started searching for the song and asking for personal information, he left the search, claiming he lost interest in the song, and hasn’t been heard from since.
He had also posted another sample before "Ulterior Motives", that was identified as "Sinking Stone" by "Souvenir". Unlike Ulterior Motives, this sample was identified in less than a day, though the original proposal on WatZatSong was deleted due to an exploit.
Notes and theories
- He has claimed to be from Spain. It's possible he was lying, and he is actually from Newfoundland.[1] However, it's unconfirmed whether he really was lying or not.
- A noise in the recording of EKT was suspected to be him eating chips, but now it’s suspected to have been a bed squeaking from the film Angels of Passion.
- Some had suspected him to be the singer of EKT before it was found. It was proven false once the song was identified.
- A theory regarding the search is that he knew both the song and the film where it originated, but didn't share this knowledge due to any given reason.
- His recording of Ulterior Motives is the most listened to sample in WatZatSong history, with it having over 180,000 listens as of August 2025. It is also the most followed and commented on sample in WatZatSong history.

- Christopher Saint Booth, a composer of the song Ulterior Motives thanked him in a Rolling Stone magazine interview, and his Instagram post linking to it.[2]
